I'm thinking it's time to reduce my amplification footprint....so in that spirit I'm considering getting the Emotiva XPA with 14 stereo connections to power all my surround, center, and ceiling speakers (9.1.6), and running my mains through the HT pass through on my tube pre-amp and then my tube amps. This would allow me to sell my current ES PA7-350 and the Rotel 1075, thus opening up space for something else.
Couple of questions first: 1. Would the XPA 14 provide enough power to the center and surrounds? 2. Any ideas what an Emotiva Sherbourn pa7-350 goes for these days? (I couldn't seem to find any currently for sale and audiogon bluebook doesn't have it listed).

I wouldnยดt sell the PA 7-350 AKA XPR-7... They are pretty rare and imho will keep their sale value.

I am in talks to purchase another XPA-3 so please let me know if this is the route you plan on going before I drop cash elsewhere. creimes just sold his mint PA-7/350 so he can probably weigh in on pricing. Thanks, Tim

Having heard the XPA 2 gen 3 on several occasions I think you would be downgrading quite a bit from your Sherbourn. I thought the XPA-2 gen 3 was a downgrade in certain aspects even from the basx a-300. I would reccomend Emotiva PA-1's instead. Though granted to power all those channels would be pretty $$$$

My main concern would be the center channel, but you could add a monoblock (like the PA-1) later if needed.

Alright, I think I've solved my problem...going to run the mains through my tube preamp and amps...the pre has a ht pass through. Get rid of the old beater Rotel...add another seven channel amp to the Sherbourn and I'll have all 16 channels filled. Plus, I won't have to switch out my speaker wires now every time I want to go from the HT processor to analog to play through the tubes.

I can recommend the BasX A-700 for the extra channels, I have the A-500 powering my entire system with no issues. Chad

Chad Except..... you need to turn the volume louder than you did with the 7-350. ๐ ๐ The Sherbourn will still be powering the center and all surround speakers. The new amp will just be powering the overhead speakers, and I'm presuming that when I eventually get the RMC1, the software (Dirac) will make all the necessary settings for volume level adjustment. Am I correct?

Sorry I didnt realize that you were getting that big amp for overhead speakers. Yeah the XPA gen 3 is just fine for that. In fact it may be more than you need.

Impossible to answer question with provided information.
How loud do you like it? How big a space? Sensitivity of speakers in quesition?
Plenty of GOOD clean power from the wall? Any neighbors to annoy?
Most persons, even those with very low sensitivity speakers like my panels, use a LOT less power than they 'think'.

Anyone got thoughts on using the HT pass through on the tube preamp and the tube amps to power the L/R front speakers for home theater duty? My room is a dedicated media room, double sheetrock, with green glue hung on hat channel, etc., so it sounds really clean in there. I'm currently running a Primaluna Dialogue preamp and Manley Snapper 100 w amps. I love the sound with music and without effort it gets louder than I could safely handle, so I can't imagine home theater duty would be any problem. The reason I want to do this is it allows me to just have to add in one more 7 channel amp to the already existing 7 channel amp to cover a 9.1.6 setup...plus I don't have to get in behind my speakers and swap speaker cables every time I go from the tube setup to watch a movie every couple of weeks.
