I recently had Emotiva upgrade my XMC-1 with the new HDMI 2.0b Video Upgrade Board.
I have my XMC-1 set up a a preamp processor, with the 7.1 analog audio outs connected to my Denon AV Receiver. The HDMI 2 Output is connected to my LG OLED E6P Display.
My 4K sources are a PS4 Pro, a XBOX One and an AppleTV. My 2K sources are a XBOX 360, a PS3, a DirecTV SetTop box. I also use one Digital Audio Optical input from LG OLED to process built-in apps like Netflix and Hulu.
After reconnecting all of my HDMI devices, including 3 that support HDR 4K, I observed something that never occurred with the original HDMI 1.2 board. On occasion when switching HDMI inputs from a 4K course to a 1080P source, audio out would completely stop functioning. The video output is not affected at all.
I thought perhaps this was occurring due to the configuration that was still in place before the board was upgraded. I decided to reset the XMC-1 to factory defaults and disconnected all the HDMI sources. I then connect each source one by one, to verify they were functioning properly.
The first two were 4K HDR sources and they worked just fine. I could switch between the two with no audio drops. The third HDMI source I connected was an SDR source, my DirecTV setup box. When I switched from the 4K source to the DirecTV SDR source, video came up immediately, but no sound...ever. I switched back to the 4K source and again no sound...ever. I tried the other 4K source and it also had no sound. As noted above, I put the XMC-1 into standby and then powered it back on and all three inputs worked fine.
As I added additional sources, I found I had to reboot the XMC-1 every time.
For those who have this HDMI 2.0b upgrade or have a unit that had the new board by default, please let me know if you have any recommended settings that will permanently remove this issue.
Thanks
