No noises on start-up with 1.4 same here - no noise. In addition - don't see that much old stuff with 1080p and Atmos. does it happen all the time - do you start the movie before RMC-1 has fully loaded?
I read so many issues, you guys having - that I cannot find with my setup. Very strange to me
Currently, somehow, the timing of HDMI ARC of my LG has changed - need to correct again my harmony.
At the end - everything is working - at least with a workaround. Wait to get a finalised FW and soon Dirac - to make everything more complicated.

Just a quick note to let everyone know that firmware 1.5 is up.
1.5 Firmware is our latest release that includes our all new designed bass management system. We expanded on our initial bass manager design and enhanced it to an incredible level of performance with all new proprietary algorithms. This update also fixes the few remaining issues that we received via customer feedback.
Next up is Dirac. We have also been diligently working on the interface to link our system to their code. From our last meeting with Dirac we are hoping to have the final API very soon.
The integration of the new algorithms in the bass manager and renderer are nothing short of stunning.
Enjoy

Come on in, the waters fine. Lonnie Just talked with Grayson and got the ball rolling!!! On vacation at the end of next week so I'll be looking forward to putting the RMC-1 through it's paces!!! I may join you! I feel like I'm in the old Steve Martin routine where he starts with Hi Fi, then gets stereo, then quadraphonic, then the latest and greatest Milliphonic system with 1000 speakers, only to discover "Maybe it's the needle!". I've been ready to go with the XMC-2 but just discovered that the Trade-In Program is delayed a couple more months, which means that in a month or so I also may be more interested in trading-in for the RMC-1 instead. It's a great deal either way. I don't need, and am not currently interested in the extra features that the RMC-1 has over the XMC-2, but I said that about going from 2 channel to having a center channel. Then after going to 5.1 I thought I would never go to 7.1, but here I am with 7.2. And so on, and so on, and so on. With the delay, my brain is looking for another fix since I'm going to the grave with my speakers and amps, so one of the few alternate sources of a TechnoHigh is getting a pre-pro I don't need so I can later get speakers I don't need but the pre-pro can use. It's not a sickness, it's just fun.

Hi new owner here. Setting up my speakers. I am confused about the choice for my overhead ceiling speakers. I'm confused if their heights or tops or Dolby enabled. Any help would be appreciated it's a standard for in-ceiling speaker setup two in the front two in the rear but in the ceiling thanks Joe

It's not a sickness, it's just fun. I'm actually getting the RMC-1 with my 40% card which I've overnighted to Emotiva today so they'll be getting it tomorrow so I'm hoping the RMC-1 will ship out soon after. I'll be getting an XMC-2 with the trade-in program when available. I've been working diligently behind the scenes myself and I've set up my quite large bedroom for 5.1 which the XMC-2 will be the center piece. My home DIY projects are on a two month or so break then I'll be painting in phases, so this is the first home theater equipment I've purchased in quite some time, and quite personally I believe I deserve it!

Preliminary 1.5 impressions: 1.5 fixed the Frozen DV EDID issue. RMC-1 is no longer stuck in 1080p/60or24 8bits 444 SDR and acting like a super sink. This fix alone is a tremendous accomplishment by development for RMC-1 and much appreciated.
Config:
(disc)OPPO203/Main_V/A ---> Input1/RMC-1/Output2 ---> Input4/LG_C8_77"_OLED Played 4K DV Hunter Killer and got 2160p DV with DDTrueHD/ATMOS, then played 4K Insurgent HDR (no DV) with DDTrueHD/ATMOS and still got 2160p DV. This was corrected by switching RMC-1 inputs from Input 1 to Input 3 back to Input 1. Insurgent now playing 4k HDR ATMOS. Doing more testing tomorrow. Now, just watching 4K Insurgent and loving it.

Still setting up the RMC -1. Saw firmware 1.5 came out. Figured I'd install it before I hook up all my gear. Installation was painless. Fingers crossed. .....

(sigh) So I saw KeithL 's special notes about the new RMC-1 Firmware version 1.5 just released today: DO NOT INSTALL IT ON AN XMC-1. That it may "brick" an XMC-1 if tried. Why is such a thing even possible? The Firmware header should have explicit Device Compatibility fields which would prevent an XMC-1 from even trying this. In the long haul, I really hope that Emotiva completely reworks the Firmware upgrade process: - It should be impossible to load Device-incompatible Firmware.
- It should be impossible (or damn near) to ever "brick" a Device via Firmware upgrade. There should be a small Firmware Loader which lives in the Device, and can "un-brick" a Device if it's Cold Booted with a USB Firmware Recovery image (perhaps with certain buttons held while Cold Booting).
- It should be possible (and relatively automatic) to upgrade Firmware "over the net" ala the Oppo Disc players.

Do I need to reset all my speakers distances & levels? Or just my subs? With the new algorithm I would recommend resetting all your levels. Lonnie

I see in the release notes for FW 1.5 that it includes a fix for the crackling sound heard by some in the height channels.
I really hope with this firmware Deewan will finally have a happy experience. He certainly deserves it.
