I only got the M&M's once, with the XMC-1. Had to buy my own for everything else.

There was a member on here who even mentioned that the RMC-1 sounded as good if not better with no dirac over the XMC-1 with Dirac so this unit has immense potential. Another user felt it was worse, so we're all eager for another comparison data point.

I would think that how much room correction was necessary in a given environment would be a significant determining factor.

Picked up my RMC-1 on the way home from work! Woot, Woot!!! I've had time to actually un-box, plug in, turn on and check out the GUI, which is similar to the XMC-1's but a bit more options and such. It came with firmware verison 1.4, which I was hoping for so I could actually do the update to firmware version 1.5. Very noticeable difference coming from the XMC-1 to the RMC-1, with respect to the responsiveness in GUI. In other words, it's very instantaneous, press a remote button and the response is instant. Any other observations I have will have to be made next Monday when I actually have time to swap out my XMC-1 and start playing.

I couldn’t wait - it was good though. Lost a few pounds and even 2 channel it sounds fantastic.

I’m almost more pleased with its 2 ch performance than multichannel..

Just pulled the trigger on a XMC-1 to RMC-1 upgrade...Need some opinions on adding support for object based (Atmos...) speaker solutions. Room is a bit odd. Narrow and long (24' x 15.5'). TV is on the long wall. Have LX521 main, a PMC center, LXmini rear and a rythmik SUB. Flat ceiling (8.5'). 85" TV. Seats are only 4-5' from back wall. Options, opinions, etc... Only for HT (movies, opera, TV).

^^^^^^^^
The scales are slowly tipping towards trading to the RMC-1 vs XMC-2. I contacted Emo and was told not to worry about how long the Trade-In program will run for the RMC-1, and also not to worry about my warranty expiring on my early XMC-1 if I decide to go for the XMC-2. So, either way, it'll be ok.
But, with all these triggers being pulled, and the reports of fabulous 2 channel sound, I'm thinking RMC-1.
Again, I don't need all the RMC-1 features, but . . . . who am I to argue against spending more money??

I have an RMC-1 and I use it for 2 channel stereo (or All Stereo) more than anything else and it works very well, great clarity and separation. When I listen to the same music I have listened to for years, I now hear instrument sounds I did not hear before. I am very happy with my RMC-1. You will enjoy yours too!

After months of research, looking for decent Atmos speakers, I ended up purchasing and installing four Definitive Technology DI8R speakers that have a pivoting tweeter so you can aim it. These are full range speakers and they have very good bass response. I do like their performance in All Stereo mode as well. They list for $349/ea on the Definitive Technology website, but I purchased them for $190/ea from Abt with the same Definitive Technology 5 year manufacturer's warranty. Happy shopping, you'll find something! Specifications: Driver complement: 1-inch (25mm) pivoting Aluminum dome tweeter axially aligned with a 8" (20 cm) BDSS bass/midrange driver Frequency response: 26Hz - 30kHz Impedance: 4 - 8 Ohms Sensitivity: 90 dB Recommended associated amplifier power: 10 - 225 WPC www.abt.com/product/47459/Definitive-Technology-White-8-Ceiling-Speaker-Each-DI8R.html

I've been plotting a new arrangement in my home theater cabinet, so I'm wanting to take my time and think it through. I'm also wanting to do a complete re-wire and clean up the clutter so it doesn't look like a rats nest back there. I'm off work next week so I'll have plenty of time. I'll be honest though, it's taking all I can to not start in on it now, but I want to do right so I'll just have to make due with my XMC-1 till Monday!

Again, I don't need all the RMC-1 features, but . . . . who am I to argue against spending more money?? Note that 2ch will most likely sound exactly the same on XMC-2 as RMC-1. It might be small differences in surround sound, although I doubt most can hear it. In theory the mono mode of the dac should make some improvements.. But compared to a unit using the exact same dac but only working in stereo, the same software, the same build, the same power supply there shouldn’t be a huge difference. The reason to buy RMC-1 should mostly for the expansion possibility and maybe estetics as it’s mostly the same height as their amps. What features is it that XMC-2 is missing? Other than mono mod on all channels and expansion slots? Most don’t need these. I’m very jealous of your trade in program. I paid more than $6400 for my RMC-1. This with discount, normal price here in Sweden is more than $7200. This calculated with the current exchange rate. When I hear you can get it for less than $3000 I’m shocked. Why is it so damn expensive here? For that price I would buy two :-)

Seems like they should be fine for the intended application. Don't need them for all-stereo, but maybe fun...

Again, I don't need all the RMC-1 features, but . . . . who am I to argue against spending more money?? I was kind of starting to lean this way because...well...it's hard to wait around when you start reading about everyone else's shiny new toy. However, I tried turning of Dirac this weekend, and was reminded just how much I don't want that. So, I'll happily wait. In the meantime, I ordered myself a second sub and and a miniDSP with the money I saved by being willing to wait (how's that for justification/rationalization?).

I keep on thinking about building a rack for everything and recessing it into the wall. Then I start doing the planning involved and quickly change my mind lol.

I skipped installing update v1.4, so currently on v1.3. Is it OK to go ahead and install v1.5?
