EMO Development: what exactly chg'd with 1.7 regarding how EMO is improving issues with dual monitors? This fix was mentioned from notes posted about recent Franklin expo. Thx.

Just about to eventually set-up my RMC-1. Quick question. Do the firmware upgrades “roll-over” all previous upgrades or should they be carried out in sequence, dependant on what it has shipped with. The firmware is packaged in its entirety and can be replaced as a whole. There’s no need to perform sequential updates to arrive at the latest version.

Am I imagining this, or is the sound a bit better? I‘m testing it with „Bohemian Rhapsody“. Fantastic Sound. Thank you for your great work, Emotiva.

Can any of you guys try to play mad max fury road with 1.7? Everything works great now with 1.7, unless i try to play fury road. The rmc starts to do really strange things like locking up and no sound, the wait please, stays on forever and i cant't turn off the unit unless i press the button for 5 seconds. When i can get the info screen to show, it says pcm 5.1, not atmos which it is and no sound. I never had an issue playing that disc with any other firmware before, so this is really strange. It's a shame because it's one of my favorite movie's to play on the rmc. I'm traveling for work but can try this out for you tonight if someone else doesn't beat me to it. Fury Road has been a great test disc for me and was how I discovered some of the overhead middle crackle noises several FW versions ago.

I might send the disc to Damon to test. I keep testing all types of media and no issues whatsoever, unless i pop fury road in. It's the regular bluray, not the 4k version.

If you are referring to my 1st post in the Tech Day notes, the "dual display" comment was not about dual monitors. It was fixes to issues with the dual front panels. Hair Nick's notes refer to one about the right panel volume display as one specific. Mark

I just saw the bit about "non-4K". We only have the 4K Fury Road, and it seems to play well, actually GREAT "effects" channel bits. I will see if we have anther title that is 1080 with ATMOS.

Thanks for confirmation. I was wondering if my ears were deceiving me. The FW 1.7 upgrade is working well for me. Watched Blade Runner 2049 4K last night. Bass and cohesion is wonderful. Overall function seems smoother. I also noticed that a test tone issue was resolved. Pink noise was low out of L&R surround with FW 1.5. Tones are even now, from all channels, in 7.1.4 config. Thanks Emotiva.

If you are referring to my 1st post in the Tech Day notes, the "dual display" comment was not about dual monitors. It was fixes to issues with the dual front panels. Hair Nick's notes refer to one about the right panel volume display as one specific. Mark Today’s tech day including a 2.2 channel demo, an Atmos Demo, a Processor class, tours of the buildings with the ability to talk to Emotiva staff, Q&A time in the morning and over lunch, and of course – a raffle and special deals on products. ... Information from Various Q&A's:Firmware 1.7 is ready to release and just awaiting Lonnie’s sign-off. Lonnie has been out of town this week at a wedding, so he was not present. The following items are addressed with the 1st two being considered the most significant by Emotiva: - ARC/CEC issues…they continue to find certain TV’s that provide issues, and they’ve provided fixes for more of them. - DTS MA lock on is improved. - PCM Channel count detection is improved - Digital buzzing after long periods of PCM listening is resolved. - There’s a rewrite of the bass management algorithm that makes it sound better and more cohesive with the mids - There are various status reporting fixes, as well as some fixes to dual display issues.
The new version of Dirac is running and working fine in 2 channel. Emotiva is awaiting library files from Dirac that are specific to the new ADI DSP’s. Given the 2 channel uses the same chips, Emotiva does not anticipate any issues, but they just have to have Dirac provide the files. Dan is hoping for release in early 2020, but they are at the mercy of Dirac. Dan believes they need to offer multiple (2-3) Dirac presets, and Ray says it should be straightforward to enable. On pre-pros, Dan stressed that bringing processor development in house gave them more control over enabling what they wanted. This was a key reason they moved away from JV’s, such as that used to develop the original XMC-1. He stressed that other small on-line companies that may offer what look like similar 16 channel options don’t have the in-house technical depth and that this may impact their ability to support if issues arise. Emotiva has a team of people in Tennessee, Canada, and New York prepared to focus on resolving issues. He also stressed the value of the detailed and specific feedback Lounge members provide when issues arise. This helps them more quickly resolve issues. A question was asked about the XMC-1 trade-in program…when will it end? Dan said “through the end of the year for sure” and also said “don’t worry, we’ll give plenty of warning before we close the option” In the room Damon was doing his processor class, a pre-production reference sub (RS-13) was being shown (in piano black gloss). Controls were on the top. It’s not final yet. Also, in the same room, in-ceiling height speakers were in use (with ribbon tweeters, according to Damon). Again, not final. No details on these pre-production items were discussed. If you had been here, you would also have had access to some great Area 51 deals and 20% off new gear. A lot of Emo-bucks were given out in the raffle, ranging from $50 to $1000! (Sorry about your luck if you were not present!) For items not shown, rest assured – there’s a lot being worked on still. We just can’t talk about some things we saw yet. But, have faith…we saw evidence of a lot of things coming along. And, pix will follow. Geebo took a lot and will send them to me to insert in the first few reserved posts below (later tonight or tomorrow). "That's all folks!" Mark I see what you mean. Thx. Did a Full Hard Reset and I'm watching Venom again to see if the drop outs are repeatable.

Any chance of adding a 30Hz speaker crossover option for larger, more "capable" LCR speakers? I doubt that you would be able to hear the difference between 40 and 30... it would be very minimal, other than just the satisfaction of "seeing" it in the menu setup. But keep in mind. With new bass management. you can first set your small X-over to 40, then change to Large, apply enhanced bass, and 40 and down will be directed to the mono sub(s) and the towers will play "full" range and allow them to naturally role off.

FW 1.7: Lost V/A sync 5 times with DD_True_HD/ATMOS. OPPO203(disc) and LG C8 77" TV. Going back to 1.5. Never happened before w. Dolby. Anyone else? Movie: 4K DV Venom, 2160p/24, 12bits, Dolby Vision, DD_True_HD/ATMOS Lost V/A sync 5 times:1. Beginning 2. 00:28 (Hr:Min) 3. 01:09 4. 01:14 5. 01:31 Config:(disc)OPPO203/Main_V/A_Out ---> Input1/RMC-1 RMC-1/Out1 --->Input1/Vertex2/Out1 --->--->Input2/JVC600 Projector(OFF and unplugged from AC and HDMI) RMC-1/Out2 --->Input0/Vertex2/Out0 --->Input1/LG_C8_77"_OLED Vertex2/Audio_Out ---> Input2/RMC-1 (ARC audio from LG ... have not tested this, yet) Cables:---> = HDfury 18Mbps 6ft cbl --->---> = Tributaries 18Mbps 33ft cbl Give it some time. don't give up to quickly. make sure after some time of use... (hour or so) to give everything a hard re-boot. unplug all gear and start again. as well in some instance, especially with "larger" firmware jumps. giving it a day or 2 of "exercise" things seems to get better. Better locking and latching. I know it is a machine, and i am somewhat inferring "adaptivity", but what ever it is, things seem to get better after a day or 2 in my experience. I know weird. But I think things get time to reset, EDID relocates and things get smoother. If you find that things are not better in a week, if you can endure, then go back to 1.5. Keep in mind with the bass management re-write from 1.5 to 1.7 you may want to do a complete factory re-set and go back and manually set up your configuration again. Sorry I know this is time consuming...

The RMC has problems with the DD5.1 trailer soundtracks and them normally switches to PCM 5.1 without any actual audio and them the RMC stops responding. A full reboot was required. The 4K version of the disc works fine. So I'm guessing it's something with the order of the audio signals on the BluRay disc and how the RMC tries to decode them. When I have more time I may see if the RMC only has this issue when the decoder is set to Auto.

I have a list of things I'll be adding to the FW 1.7 list. I may not get to it tonight but for sure in the next couple days.

Yeah, i didn't realize it was the DD5.1 trailer soundtracks that preceed the movie and that seems to be the culprit that makes the rmc stop responding. And yes, it then switches to PCM 5.1 without any audio. I tried auto and bitstream in the oppo, but no change. Thanks for the help! Adam
