Guys this second RMC1 has been flawless. I am wondering if I have a newer firmware version. I haven't had one issue at all. My first one seemed sluggish at times in the menu. This one is a lot better. Also no chirps or noises. The OLED screens have been solid. With no out of whack info. Is there some way for you to check and advise what software version you are running on your unit? Tks I will check my firmware when I get off work. I will post it here. Also mine was a clear ding. And it was not random at all. It would come like clockwork. So I am sure they are two different issues.

Folks, I found a few more bugs. This is the second time I’ve came downstairs to find the RMC-1 “ON”. Not sure why but somehow it turned itself on. Decided to listen to a SACD. Used the Harmony elite and selected watch movie. That starts JVC projector for video, turns on RMC(already on), selects input 1. The RMC was already on and the Logitech turned on the Oppo 205. I put in the SACD and there was no sound. I did a hard reset of the RMC. During boot up the SACD video appeared on the JVC and the music was present; however, the RMC display was frozen on “Think high end” and the volume knob did not work. The right screen had no information. Then I heard a pop on the speakers. A couple minutes later the display showed volume on the left side and began changing volume on its own. That lasted a few seconds then settled down @ -45db. My projector screen went blank for a few seconds(usually means changing resolution or lost signal) but came back on with the SACD information on the screen and still playing music. During this process the left screen changed to the correct input/audio/video information and the right screen to the correct DSD 5.1.
After all the above the RMC seems to be working properly now. The screen displays on both sides are functioning correctly and the volume knob works and the SACD is playing.
Not sure if anyone else has experienced the unit on when they left it turned off. I think I’ll have to turn it off from the rocker switch on the back to make sure it stays off.
Just an FYI, I did a post a few pages back so you might have missed it. During our regression testing we found the issues with SACD and I posted about this and asked everyone to refrain from playing SACD. We will be releasing a code fix for this and a few other things we found in a day or two. Lonnie

Yes I remember Lonnies post about DSD. Thought I would check it out and see how bad it was. The pops happened only twice while playing SACD. The multiple lockups and the unit changing the volume up and down on its owe was interesting. Has anyone else found the unit on when they left it off? Just a thought on the power thing. Live in the country and there are occasional power interruptions. Could possibly be a power interruption that makes the unit turn on? Turn off CEC. I'm betting it is getting a start up command from something. If you turn off CEC in the RMC, i bet it won't turn on mysteriously. Lonnie

Ok guys here is a snapshot of my information screen. It is clear that this is newer. Since it's date proceeds the date they were originally shipped.

Ok guys here is a snapshot of my information screen. It is clear that this is newer. Since it's date proceeds the date they were originally shipped. First, love the Paradigm speakers. We placed our orders on 11/15, I'm not sure there were any shipments made that week. It's possible the firmware was last updated on 11/19/2018 and then loaded on the RMC's just before shipping out that week. I'll check my firmware version and date tonight when I get home. I'll be a bit relieved if I have an older version. And a bit more concerned if I have the same.

First thanks for the compliment on my speakers.
Yeah I realize that they didn't ship them out until later. We we're the last of the bunch. So they could have updated them before they went out I guess. But this one has been Rock solid. No glitches whatsoever. My first one was a little iffy except for the sound. Which was incredible. This one even seems better than my XMC1 was. And I never got the 4K version. So it was a stable firmware.

I just checked mine and i have the same firmware and still have issues. Just had the pleasure of talking with Damon at emotiva, and they are aware of the issues we are having. He said there will be a new firmware available in the next day or 2 that should correct all of them. Hang in there guys, a fix is coming!

Ok guys here is a snapshot of my information screen. It is clear that this is newer. Since it's date proceeds the date they were originally shipped. Your HDMI Version is the same as the one in my XMC-1 with V3 HDMI board and running V5.4B2 firmware, which makes sense as they both share the same HDMI board. . What is odd is that yours doesn't show a Kernel version number and mine does.

Looks like we all have the same firmware. I am striking out with my luck. Anytime I have a cold start (meaning it's been off for an hour or more) on my RMC it will not turn on correctly and the OLED's only display "RETHINK HIGH END". I've left the RMC sit in that status for 8-10 minutes with not change. A hard reboot is required every time to get the RMC working. I also began paying closer attention to the glow ring around the knob. After the cold start reboot, the glow ring starts out with full brightness but then dims quickly. After I hit the menu button the glow ring stopped working all together. I attempted to record the glow ring failing, but the second time I started the RMC up it didn't fail but the brightness really varied. In this video you can see the glow rings LED's change brightness, it is not a camera trick, that is how they appeared in real life. I think I must have some hardware issues with my unit. lonnie, any thoughts or things you want me to try?

Wow so the same firmware. I wonder why mine has no problems? I even messed with the volume knob to see if that gave me issues. It didn't so maybe it is just because I only have one source at this time. An Oppo 205.

So has anyone got the RMC-1 hooked up to a Linux system? I'd really like to see the output of the "slush" command to see what USB Vendor and Devices IDs the RMC-1's USB has.

Anyone else with a Oppo 203 and RMC? I know a few have the 205. I have a lot of my movies backed up and on my movie server. I did some testing last night and while streaming the file of Atomic Blonde through my Oppo I got the chirp around the first 8:00 minute mark. I watched the exact same file using my movie streaming device and no chirp through the first 13 minutes of the same chapter. The only thing I changed was the input source. The Oppo is also the same player that was giving me the chirp while watching discs this past weekend. I think it has to be something with either the source device or that physical hdmi input on the RMC. Tonight if I have time I'll watch the same file but I'll swap the Oppo and movie streamer hdmi cables to determine if it's the device or the hdmi input.

deewan try running the streamer through the Oppo, too. Good thinking and easy to hookup. I should also add that the is the same Oppo I have used with the XMC and Marantz 7704, so I am confident it is not the actual player.

More in-depth testing and more issues. Pretty sure I have a lemon. No idea how this thing made it past any quality checks. When using the Oppo 203 and my RMC, about every 8 minutes I get a loud chirp as previously reported. The chirp happens when a disc is played or a movie file is played through the Oppo. The interesting thing is if I run my movie streamer through the Oppo using the hdmi input, the loud chirp does not occur. Instead, I get a very quick skip (or drop out) of the audio. Here is an example of the chirp. If you can see the Oppo player it occurs at the 7:51 mark. Adding to the confusion of the chirp, I think with other devices instead of a chirp I get the aforementioned audio drop. I noticed it while streaming a TV series from my movie server tonight that had a lot more action and audio than normal. Instead of a chirp every 8-10 minutes, I'd get a dropout. If I rewound and played that exact scene over again, the audio would play just fine with no dropout. So it's not the media. However, whats more concerning is I've discovered that basically 50% of the time I turn on the RMC, it will not boot up properly. It either freezes as I've mentioned before or with a similar display shown below: Or the OLEDS show that everything appears to be fine, but I can't get the RMC to pass any audio or video. I took a video of what happens when the RMC boots up and the OLEDS suggest everything is fine but really nothing is working. I should add that if I do a complete power cycle and reboot, the RMC passes audio and video again. But nothing I do short of that will let it pass either despite the OLEDs showing the correct info. Earlier today I replied to an email from Emotiva explaining my current status. I hope to hear something back tomorrow (Wednesday). If not, I will contact them about a full return or exchange. Lucky for me at this point my Marantz has not sold so i can put it back in the rack. I can handle a few quirky menus issues or some audio formats not working, but my particular RMC is a absolute dud and I don't want to spend 10-15 minutes trying to get it to work each time I go to watch some content. Not sure how it made it past any quality checks. This is where I will lend heavily on the great customer service Emotiva has always provided in the past. *fingers crossed*
