The fact is that we are not a software company... We have no desire to issue "the release of the day" like some software companies actually do...
And most of our customers have no desire to study a journal of updates every day to decide which update to try...
(And, to be honest, if we spent all our time doing that, we'd have less time left to actually find and fix those bugs.)
No one’s asking for a release of the day, but the last release was three months ago, and this latest one doesn’t seem all that successful, so possibly there’s room for something in between? A good customer made a suggestion that many here seem to like (including me). Instead of just rushing to shut down the idea, maybe you could discuss it in a staff meeting and see if it might have some merit. The current situation needs improvement, maybe some of your customers can help.

I’m sorry but I don’t understand why unsatisfied customers don’t return the problematic unit and move on... I'm actually in the process of doing that now (and I'm sure many aren't far behind). Thanks for the suggestion.

Just INVEST in a temporary team of top coders to iron out the bugs and streamline the code.........
Then you can MAINTAIN IT......
Write it off as a business expense on your taxes/books......
EMOTIVA had a head start, and it seems squandered. You could've owned the immersive audio market.....

I just got my XPA-9 AMP today and connected it to my new RMC-1. I have some questions I hope someone can help. My firmware is 1.7 1. When watching my TCL Series 8 75" in Roku, every-time I start to stream a movie it get a loud pop 2. When I play a 4K HDR movie in Dolby Atmos on my Oppo UDP-203 here is what is displayed on my RMC-1 OLED pic below it says Dolby TrueHD Not Atmos (note it also says SDR for Video.) Should I not have HDR? The TV says HDR10! 3. When I play a 4K HDR movie in DTS X on my Opposite UDP-203 here is what is displayed on my RMC-1 OLED pic below it says DTS Master Audio Not DTS X. (note it also says SDR) Should I not HDR? The TV says HDR10! 4. I have to turn the volume up to -25DB before a get any volume. Is this normal? 5. Any quick way to get to HDMI ARC without having to go to setup each time? Thanks in advance for the help. Just got the RMC-1 so I am still learning. Bill

SET YOUR SPEAKER LEVELS CORRECTLY 5. HDMI ARC IS AN INPUT? IF YOU HAVE A HARMONY REMOTE, THERE IS A DISCRETE ARC INPUT.

Unfortunately, this rarely works. Throwing more cooks at the problem without a solid plan for breaking up the problem. What works better is hiring a bunch of really knowledgable QA people who really understand the domain that you're developing in. A good QA person who writes up a succinct, procedural description of the problem and what, specifically, the system is doing wrong, is worth their weight in gold. Casey

Had problems playing movies yesterday. Switched from an ATMOS movie to a DTS:X movie. No sound. switched back and forth between inputs. No sound. Then a very loud buzz from system for about 5-10 seconds.
Then I turned off all sources and turned back on. Did a couple of other things. Don't remember the sequence. I was more concerned about blowing up amps and speakers.
Movie finally played with normal sound.

I have a question about my remote for the RMC-1L.
The remote in the manual is the XMC-2 remote labeled the PR-1. My remote is a MR1.
2 buttons are different. The Direct Mode & All Stereo buttons on the PR-1 remote in the manual, are labeled Music and Movie on my MR1 remote. These appear to be old surround synthesis functions. The 2 buttons, silk-screened Music and Movie on my MR1 remote, function as Direct Mode & All Stereo buttons as should be according to the manual. Did I receive a remote for a different product?
Thanks.

Loud (all) spkr noise when going from 2k Black Hawk Down LPCM (PCM5.1/DD_Surround) to Dolby Digital sound format (DD5.1/DD_Surround). Had to reduce volume to -70dB quickly. OPPO203 was in bitstream. Switched btwn LPCM and DD5.1 in the 2k disc menu to create all spkr noise … see sequence below. (disc)/OPPO203 > RMC-1 > 4k LG C8 77" tv as noted in Config below. Sequence:1. Select LPCM in 2k BHD disc menu. Sound format is PCM5.1/DD_Surround. OK. 1a. Use RMC-1 Main Zone to chg from DSU to DTS Neural:X. OK. 1b. Use RMC-1 Main Zone to chg from DTS Neural:X to DSU. OK. 2. Select DD5.1 in 2k BHD disc menu. Lots of noise from all spkrs. Turn vol down to -70dB. Not Good. 3. Chg'd RMC-1 Inputs 1>2>1. Noise still there. NG. 4. Turn RMC-1 off/on with Standby Button. OK. No more noise. Movie: 2k Black Hawk Down, 2160p/24, 12bits, YCbCr, 444, SDR; DD5.1/DD_Surround and LPCM (PCM5.1/DD_Surround) and other audio formats as noted above. These loud noises don't happen that often … so the noise is difficult to reproduce to get a fix from EMO.

^^^^ I'll say accurate. A software company in dire need of a communication director. Every post from Keith takes me one step closer to deleting my profile here, never to return to this forum again, nor buy another Emotiva product. While I don't always agree with Keith, this is more than a little harsh. He is correct more often than he's wrong and a lot of people have benefited by his responses on here, myself included. I agree with this. While I think Keith many times shut down suggestions for change or features, he has many times written well thought out responses that explains things on many subjects. He steered me the right way to fix my issue with the projector, which wasn’t a RMC issue that was unsolvable. Although, this time I think he’s wrong. They NEED to change their software releases. These public 2-3 months releases are too big. Too many things change at once and there seem to be a too small beta test group because some things that are released to the public are just too easy to detect. It takes less than 48 hours for people to detect big issues. This alone should ring a bell. IMO the beta test group should test alpha releases, then have public beta test, until a stable version is released for the masses. I think there are a lot of people here that are willing to help test. Just as many that only want to run a stable release. Until the platform is stable anyway.. The only version that was a huge improvement was the 1.5 firmware, a one month bugfix release.

The carrier pigeon just dropped these off so we will get testing. Nice! Now both the PCM and the ”odd” DD 5.1 can be bugfixed. A new firmware next week for these issues? Btw if you already had the Fury road 4k, don’t you have the 2k version in the case? I have..

I know Damon is diving into the issues that people have brought up specifically with these standard Bluray titles.

I also got this loud buzz with my XMC-2 it was very concerning that it was going to ruin my speakers or AMPS. It happened twice (once when the show was paused so no sound coming from the cable box) so I ended up hitting the switch on the back of the XMC-2. I got it when just watching TV in Dolby digital. Sounded like an emergency Alarm scared the crap out of my husband also. Was hoping it was a fluke but concerning others had this happen as well.

Plan or promise aside, I actually think it makes more sense for Emotiva NOT to include the adapters. I suspect that most of us that can afford a 5k processor most likely have amps with balanced inputs, in which case these adapters are of limited to no value. I also suspect that many of us aren't running a full 16 channels. And lets face it - $8 per adapter for those who need them is a very reasonable price...
I would also like to see more frequent software releases, if only to a limited beta-test team. I'm a software, electrical, and system engineer with quite a lot of testing under my belt. And I obviously love playing with audio/video equipment. Emotiva, what does it take to become a beta tester?

Regarding faster firmware releases..... We don't know that Emotiva is not releasing beta FW to a smaller group more frequently than the public firmware. Emotiva even eluded to the fact earlier when they mentioned 1.X releases are public while 1.X.X are internal releases. We also don't know how long it takes Emotiva to reproduce an issue, resolve the issue and then regression test. I agree the long wait periods between FW's is frustrating, but all of us should understand the life cycle for discovery, solution, development, regression testing and deployment isn't always hours or days. It can sometimes be weeks or months. That said, please fix our issues.
