Maybe too stupid even for the Stupid Question Zone?
Is there a decent DAC that one can connect their computer (Mac or PC) to over WiFi to stream music files? One made in USA?

Maybe too stupid even for the Stupid Question Zone? Is there a decent DAC that one can connect their computer (Mac or PC) to over WiFi to stream music files? One made in USA? Need a bit more info from you, what system are you connecting to, do you already have gear with a capable DAC ? Many people with say a MAC will airplay to an older ATV gen3 that has an optical out to a DAC. One DAC/Streamer I wanted to give a go directly to the Airmotiv 6s was the Cambridge Audio CXN, not made in the US but gets great reviews. www.crutchfield.com/p_779CXNV2B/Cambridge-CXN-V2-Black.htmlChad

A buddy has a MacBook with the music files. Wants to be able to stream music from that Mac over his home WiFi to a DAC that he can plug into his McIntosh preamp. That way he can sit in his recliner and surf the web while playing music.

He needs a network music player that can connect to a DAC, or one with a DAC built in. Depending on his budget there are many options.

Some of the older Apple TV's or Airport Express units had SPDIF out on them. I stream to my apple TV almost exclusively, connected to an XMC-1.

I have an Audioengine D3 that I could let him use if it can plug into an Airport Express.
Edit: I’m finding that the Airport Express USB is for printing only.

How is he adjusting the volume? iTunes with BitPerfect Brave man! I'd be too scared to use a mouse for volume in case I slip up.
