See: emotivalounge.proboards.com/board/201/xmc-1-firmwareIn August I installed the XMC-1 FIRMWARE - v5.2b which was then stated as suitable for the XMC-1 with HDMI 1.4 board. I now see there are issues with this firmware and the latest firmware is v5.4 but ONLY for XMC-1 with HDMI2.0b board The latest official firmware for XMC-1 with HDMI 1.4 is v4.1 I think I therefore should "downgrade" my firmware from the faulty 5.2b to 4.1 (I do use PLIIx to expand 5.1 to 7.1) - is this correct? I am worried about the occasional bricking of units that has been reported with firmware changes which necessitates returns to Emotiva - I live in the UK so postage to Franklin for a monolith like this is huuuuge!

The 5.2b firmware will detect which board you have and will install the appropriate firmware for your board. In your case it will have installed 4.1 which you can verify in the info screen of the XMC. If it had installed 5.2 with the old board, your XMC would not be able to boot up. - This firmware version will work with BOTH the original HDMI v1.4b video card AND the new HDMI 2.0b video Upgrade Board (and the interim v2 HDMI board).- This firmware update file will detect which video card is installed in your unit and install the correct firmware version. (So it MAY be installed on an XMC-1 with either version of the HDMI card installed.) If you have an older HDMI card it will install Firmware v4.1 If you have an HDMI 2.0b HDMI card it will install Firmware v5.2
