Is anyone having stability issues with the Emotiva-Dirac software on Mac?
I tried to run it last night but had trouble connecting to the xmc1 and then repeated crashes.
My xmc has a solid internet connection (im seeing an IP address) but the Dirac software won’t “find” the xmc 9/10 times. I resorted to repeatedly power cycling the xmc and restarting the app and once in a while it would randomly connect.
Once in the app it crashed on me repeatedly, sometimes crashing the xmc with it. In the end, after nearly 2 hrs, I wasn’t able to finish a set of measurements without a crash so I’m at a stand still.
Any suggestions?

Any comments on Dirac with Mac? I was able to get through a set of measurements last night but it temporarly froze on my a dozen times in the process.

This happened to me some time ago, I had to uninstall and reinstall program. No problems since

When I had the issue several years go, I set the XMC-1 with a static IP... haven't had an issue since then.

Thanks for the suggestions. I do have it set to static IP, I guess next I’ll try reloading the software next. It definitely seems like the app is crashing first, not the xmc itself.

Had some really odd behavior with Dirac on my MBP today, the app asked for permission to access my photos, calendar and email??? Im reinstalling it now.

Update: I deleted and re-downloaded the Dirac software on my Mac and since then it’s working great. If anyone ever experiences instability with the Dirac app this is something to try.
Unfortunately a new issue popped up after running Dirac, I now get pops and clicks on all channels when changing inputs or signal types.

The Dirac software crashes on startup with my Arcam Dirac-Live download. I'm thinking that the issues aren't with the hardware but rather with Dirac.

The main issue with Dirac on Mac is when Apple decided to go away from OSX to MacOS. They changed the way the file structure and naming works. The software is looking to install a specific way when the latest OS wants it to work differently. We have a few work arounds that we have come up with here but anything after El Capitan gets a little more difficult.

Resurrecting thread to ask what's the current status on this, "this" being Dirac S/W stability on Mac? Tried running Dirac 3 and it crashes after taking the first set of measurements

Resurrecting thread to ask what's the current status on this, "this" being Dirac S/W stability on Mac? Tried running Dirac 3 and it crashes after taking the first set of measurements I had this problem when I first used 3.0.0 and opened a ticket, they said the cause was that I had too much noise (or not enough level) in my measurements. I’ve since taken many measurements and built many filters without issue (but I’m also better at setting levels). So I’d say the Mac works fine with the current Dirac Live and even my older 2013 MacBook Pro (Catalina 10.14.6) does a good job.

Hmm.. OK. I turned off the fridge 5M away), HVAC, the dehumidifier in the basement, even made sure the pro-vent water-heater was not cycling so it was as quiet as it's gonna get!
The volume levels seemed REALLY loud, like way louder than I had ever heard this on my XMC-1 Dirac. Yes, I was using the external microphone and not the internal one (made that mistake before) and I had it set to just barely into the green on all speakers. It was pushing some of the speakers so much they were rattling.... now I am nervous about running it again. May take a break and try tomorrow. Should I take this to the official Dirac thread or is it kind of off topic?

You should set them so that the sweeps occur at a reasonable level. For me, this is master volume at -37.5 dB. Since the sweeps are happening at ~15 dB louder than the volume calibration screen, you're most likely to get clipping.

Thanks AudioHTIT and megash0n... you have both been most helpful as you both usually are (ignore the whiners... we need curious folk that experiment, test, and report... that's where experts come from)
