So in pratice I was correct all along.. Dolby TrueHD core is/should be used when a system has 7.1 or less speakers. No matter if it is atmos aware or not.
But some manufacturers can ”choose” to do the atmos decoding anyway and simply ”redo” what the core already has, but probably with a slightly different output..

My take is that the Audio Science Review guy is a quack. Knows just enough to be dangerous. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.... If the Audio Science Review guy is who I think he is I have seen him on another forum and he is an absolute quack who does not know how to use his own test equipment. I offered to drive to Seattle and teach him how to use his own equipment and he decided the proper response was to be insulting to someone who was trying to help.

It will be interesting to see what level of support Monoprice and or ATI offer for the HTP-1 in the way of both customer support and software support/updates.

It will be interesting to see what level of support Monoprice and or ATI offer for the HTP-1 in the way of both customer support and software support/updates. Updates have been coming very steady since launch as issues have been reported. One of the product techs/rep is still active in the owners thread on AVS gathering feedback and announcing upcoming updates. They also already have their work started on the new Dirac BM module with hopes of spring release. So far they are handling launch and support very well.
