It’s interesting in their latest article the mention of 10 channels. 7.1.2. I wonder if they might go for an Emersa with 2 balanced l/r and 8 unbalanced other channels (I think that’s how they would utilize that channel count with their DSPs. Could be wrong with how I understand that). This could make the computing and hardware demands a lot lower while not having to steer objects maybe.. An all digital Emersa pre pro like that could fill a great void if it functioned as a premium 2 channel at the same time and cut all costs for those only planning on using hdmi or usb. Want to talk about a system that would fulfill 80% of people entering Atmos a 7.1.2 system is probably all they would need. And it would allow the XMC-2 to have some breathing room while not directly competing with NAD or really any other company I can think of..

I agree with 3 levels: that basic- no frills, High quality with many extras & audiophile- top components & design. Remember, Emo is building in TN now and not China, that will add some cost. I'm fine with "made in the USA" if the cost is slightly more. The advantage is quicker response to manufacturing issues.

I am not an US resident, so I don´t care if the products are built in China or the US. Actually I also don´t think that it matters anymore regarding quality - some of the stuff built in China e.g. regarding loudspeaker chassis is of better quality than the stuff built here in Germany. There are still complex systems where it is different but as an end customer I actually really don´t care where a product has been built when it is working without problems for years. Remember "Made in Germany" also once started as a badge to allow to identify subpar quality... Of course I respect it and understand it if you want to support workers and production in your own country.

Bringing production back to America did nothing but add 1/3 to the price tag. If you were happy with Emotiva gear prior to 2015, you would still be happy today.

They are still made in China, they are just assembled here. The blades, which are pretty much the amp itself are all made over there and I'm sure the PS and cases are as well. They just assemble them here and charge a higher price. It would appear the laws changed on claiming "Made in the USA", as they now are saying "Assembled in the USA" on their marketing material.

Want to talk about a system that would fulfill 80% of people entering Atmos a 7.1.2 system is probably all they would need. Statistically the most popular surround sound system is still 5.1, so to me it makes most sense to have 5.1.2 Atmos/DTS-X as a logical step up from that. For long time friends I have helped set up 2 x 5.1.2 systems over the last 12 months, both using Yamaha CX-A5100 processors and they sound pretty damn good. Far better than I expected that they would/should/could. Such that I will be running my XMC-1 at 5.1.2 when the DTS-X/Atmos board is available. This also aligns with the Atmos over Dolby Digital 5.1 that is common for streaming. Cheers Gary

I’d be surprised if they’d drop the 7 channel standard people have become accustomed to. That would make it a non starter for the next largest group of people other than the 5 channel crowd but it would be a bold move. A new unbalanced mc 700 seems better for that job. I’d want to see balanced channels so I guess they still could with 5.1.2 but might lose some customers. It would take the same hardware requirements for 2-3 balanced 5.1.2 as 2 balanced 7.1.2 right?

CES officially opens today and some of the big players have already had their keynote releases overnight, including Hisense, Hyundai, Intel, LG, Panasonic, Qualcomm, Samsung, Sony, TCL, and Toyota. What will Emotiva launch via Dan's keynote address?
Cheers Gary

I think it will be fun to see. I am more interested in the photographic realm myself, and other tech. Automotive especially has me curious.

I thought Dan told me use a vendor in California for their boards? Maybe they switched back? Not for the amp blades. They get those prebuilt and shipped. Might be for something else, though. Makes sense when you think about it - they source/spec everything from the same suppliers they used for Gen 1/2, and for BasX, they just don't have them put them together. Since they're XPA line is modular, it's a no-brainer to assemble here. Plug and go.

Hey guys.
I'll be very open with you about our CES trip this year. We are running a very small show compared to the past years.
We brought along the T-Zero speakers connected to a TA-100 with a computer and CD-100. We are also running the RMC-1 showing off the menu system but not doing an audio demo with it. We are also showing off the XMC-2 and RMC-2 in the flesh.
This year we are focused on building our partner base and focusing on meetings.
