Been a while but logged in to buy a DAC and amplifier for computer setup. Seems DACs are gone? Emo has the right name as it's products change so much. It is a roller coaster.

So what is the question?

The question is "are Emotiva DACs gone?" And the answer is "only temporarily." A new Emotiva Stealth DAC, for example, is in the pipeline and should be available "soon."

We're currently "between DACs".
However, note that the PT-100 (preamp/tuner/DAC), and the TA-100 (a PT-100 with amplifiers built in), both have digital inputs that support up to 24/96k and sound quite good.

Yes.... but only if you hold one in each hand. I assume you'd also have to invert one glass for polarity reasons.

Rumor has it that the new CD player will have a built in DAC for inputs.

The latest Schiit Modi is really something. I prefer it over the Big Ego in spades. $100, made in the U.S. Just remarkable. Schiit Modi

I prefer the sound from the Burr Brown DAC in the Ego to the Analog Devices DAC in the Schiit. The difference is not huge, but Burr Brown DAC's in general have a sound signature that I like. Cheers Gary

Have you heard the latest Modi? I think it sounds a lot smoother than the previous model which I found cold and grainy.

That is correct.
The new ERC-4 will have a Coax and a Toslink input - both good up to 24/192k - in addition to playing discs (sorry, no USB).
Rumor has it that the new CD player will have a built in DAC for inputs.

Rumor has it that the new CD player will have a built in DAC for inputs. Glad I proposed the idea of doing that back in my old thread, and even more glad you guys decided to do it. Sometimes we DO work well together.

Well.... yes and no.
You would have to use an external USB-to-S/PDIF converter (unless your PC has a Toslink output - which some do).
