Finally pulled the trigger and got a dr2..... Had it for two weeks now did a direct comparison between dr2 and xpr5 in stereo.... Not gonna claim golden ears, but I would never hear any difference in a blind test on them! Not in my setup anyway.... Used xmc1 as pre.... So emotiva did not beat emotiva lol! But in my living room I compared it too bryston 4bsst. There was no contest! Dr2 crushed bryston....?? On everything if you ask me. So superhappy with my new friend. But the old xpr line is a very good line.... Only difference was no hiss on dr2, but my xpr5 has a tiny hiss. But it doesn't bother me or the sound in my view. I can only recomend the dr2 highly

Glad you're happy with your new toy. Congrats!
It crushed the Bryston? Impressive. I own three DR-1s in use across the front of my system. The center replaced my first Emotiva, a XPA-1L. I'd say the DR-1 was an audible improvement. To my ears the DR-1 was a bit smoother, more refined. The stereo pair replaced a MC152 and I could not believe how much better the DR-1s were. Granted, these are far more Watts, but for much less money. My Maggie 3.7is lit up and rocked with the DR-1s. That McIntosh had an easy mellow sound, but it could never really do justice to the 3.7is. I'm so impressed with the difference these DR-1s made in my system, I can't imagine what it would take dollar wise to get me to replace them.

Ummm Ok. And I am happy that you're ok with the "hiss" that you hear. I'm sure that doesn't detract from the staging at all...

According to me, Xpa DR1 are great amplifiers. For me (subjectively) it's the best sounding Emo amp (I had Xpa 1 gen.2 and Xpr-1 before) - Xpr1 looks best and it's a pity that it was not updated;). I never noticed that my DR 1 had 'hiss' (I can agree with gen1) ... can you develop it?

I have to be very close to the speaker too hear re hiss, 2-3 feet and then you nearly hear it. So doesn't bother me.... And yes the dr2 crushed bryston in my opinion!
