In the past, I owned several Emo pieces, but none now. I'm considering a new surround processor. So, I was looking at Emotiva surround processors, and reading the reviews. I'm impressed that they are almost all 5 stars, and I'm thinking that maybe Emotiva has worked out some of the early bugs in the units. So, Things are going well!
Then, I noticed an asterisk at the bottom of the reviews, and it says this: " * All reviews have been incentivized. " WTF?! If that's the case, how can I have any faith in those reviews? I can see a few are paid, particularly some of the early ones. But, ALL of them? Honestly, that put an end to my shopping at Emotiva.
Does this bother anyone else?

I take all reviews with a grain of salt whether is from Emotiva or any other company or product. However, Emotiva has a 30 day trial.

My review of the DR-1 was erased from the product page, so it's not a surprise.

I get my reviews on Emo products here, or conduct them in my home

I wouldn’t read much into the term “incentivized”, its a simple disclosure that a few dollars in EmoCash has been offered to the writer for taking time to write the review. In no way does the EmoCash come close to buying a good review. Its just a kind gesture by Emotiva. Don’t let their disclosure make you think that they are paying any significant amount of money for a review, what I received wouldn’t cover almost anything they offer for sale, but it was a kind gesture all the same.
This is NOT a reason to crucify Emotiva, please look elsewhere!

Not looking to "crucify" anyone. Just surprised to see that... and a little disappointed. I have no axe to bear. I actually liked my emotiva amps very much!
What you received wouldn't cover "almost" anything they offer? That's more than $5, for sure! Not saying it buys a good review. But, may influence the reviewer. And Brutiarti's was deleted? Disappointing from a company I had come to trust.

We reward a small amount of Emo Bucks to users who take their time to write a review and share it via their social media. We DO NOT pay users or publications to review our products.

Paid by editorial is what it is called. It is up to Emotiva or anyone else to compensate or give incentives to reviewers. I personally think it is ill advised. Credibility will be questioned by some. I think though before you skewer Emotiva too much consider Sony who pays transportation and hotel rooms for you to come and review their "New" camera, but no one gets in that's reviewers face! It is time to smell the phase splitters and get real! Every reviewer and I don't care who has gotten a perk or two along the way. Does that make them less able to review a product which is their opinion anyway and no one else's. I just hope that Emotiva is willing to accept the good with the not so good. Honesty and true full disclosure is key.
You might not like it that Emotiva is doing what they are doing, but at the end of the day, that is their choice, not yours. Either way you go, Emotiva will keep on going making bitchin' products, whether you agree with their review policies or not.

instead of the fine print "incentivized" with all the evil connotations, how about if Emotiva replied to each review with something like "As a token of thanks for taking the time to share your opinion, we're sending you a $5 gift card good at any McDonalds Restaurant. Take the old lady out for a nice breakfast". At least then the "value" of the "incentive" is out in the open.

As a "paid reviewer" (not an "incentivized" one), I can tell you that even the pay for a commercial review is a token amount. Considering the time and work that goes into a review, and I'd bet that most wouldn't even do it at all, or at least not more than once. Profit isn't the incentive for reviewers (unless you're writing for a living for one of the major print magazines). Don't worry about an 'incentive" corrupting the reviewer's opinion. All the reviewers I've met write what they honestly think.

Gee, the angry fans are out in force! I didn’t “skewer” or “crucify” anyone, didn’t get in anyone’s face, and didn’t try to tell emotiva what to do. I just shared what I saw, because it was a surprise to me. I wondered if anyone else noticed. But, what the heck... I guess I deserve to be attacked for that.

You absolutely DON'T deserve to be attacked in any way. It's a perfectly reasonable question. Some of the Emotiva fanboys are overly protective. And it's a shame because there's just no need for that. Emotiva doesn't need any "fanboy-protection" and their products stand up just fine by themselves, thank you very much. Want to find out how good Emotiva is? Look at their GROWTH - not at their customer reviews. Now since it IS the manufacturer's website where you're reading the reviews, you are absolutely certain NOT to find any "this product stinks" reviews. Want to see the whole pantheon of the product's reviews? Go to a third-party website that doesn't "incentivize." Happy shopping - Boom

If you had simply asked what incentivized reviews are, I would agree with you. But you didn't. Instead you swore, threw shade, and effectively grabbed a torch shouting "Who's with me?" I don't mind provocative posts as long as you own it. Don't go out of your way to poke the bear, and then cry victim when it starts chasing you.
