I'm putting together a basic 5.1 / 1080p room for a friend and have everything but a pre-pro at this point.
He will be listening to a lot of 2 channel with this system so that's one factor to consider. The power amp is an ancient but excellent Parasound.
I am considering two used pre-pros:
A Marantz AV7005 for $350 that is absolutely mint, original owner who kept all the boxes, etc. (local)
A UMC-200 for $320 that looks to be in good condition but there's no box and, from owning a UMC-200 and having to replace the power supply, this is a concern. (not local)
Any advice would be appreciated.

From owning both a Marantz AV7702 and a UMC-200 I was never overly excited about the 2ch performance of either, try and look for a Sherbourn processor, 7020 or 7030 if you can find one, I have a 7020a that I like and 2ch performance is top notch and was better to my ears than the Marantz and UMC-200 I owned, what's really odd I think it's a fancier UMC-1 but I find 2ch performance really good.
I could sell my 7020a for $300 shipped, I would be out a processor till the XMC-2 launches haha, but maybe look around and see if there are any for sale.

Also something like an Anthem 310 receiver would be great, it's 5.1 with RCA preouts as well to use as a pre/pro.

The UMC-200 will sound better but there's no way in hell a used one is worth $320. Lots of great 1080p processors out there to pick from; I wouldn't go with either of these 2.
