You have an XMC-1 for 3 weeks and you are itching to upgrade already? That has to be a record, even for here.

You have an XMC-1 for 3 weeks and you are itching to upgrade already? That has to be a record, even for here. I found one at such a good price I couldn’t pass it up with the thought of trading it up to an XMC2 via Emotiva’s very good trade in program. I am needing a new receiver or processor in our theater and would really like to do the upgrade, but was hoping to hear how stable it is with the latest firmware. I have a Panasonic UB900 for Blu-ray/4K (almost all Blu-ray), some Netflix/ hulu streaming and some dishnetwork HD. Besides Dirac which will come at some point, what kinds of things are there still left to get right for it to be stable?

On the latest software? If not, then spend the time getting the settings right first on each source. If yes, then there is no reason why the XMC-2 won't be the same as they have basically the same HDMI board. How are you streaming the Netflix/hulu, from the TV, if so how is ARC/CEC working out for you? Cheers Gary

Will move it to the theater as soon as an amp arrives and forego atmos and see how it works there with those components. I don’t use ARC or CEC. I am on 4.0 firmware and understand that the latest is 4.1 for the XMC1 which I will upgrade to. I have a projector with about a 25 foot run of HDMI. The XMC1 I have doesn’t have the newest HDMI board, so it will be limited to 1080P but still should provide some help on how it works.

Not having the V3 board it will be difficult to compare the video operation and performance of your XMC-1 to the XMC-2. The HDMI 2.0b board is very different and most people have had to jump through some hoops, though sometimes the hoops are as simple as buying new cables and making sure your other components have the latest firmware. To be able to make any kind of educated opinion, you’ll need to list your source components and display (also distances), we can then tell you how those pieces have worked for us.

This is a home theater only setup. -Panasonic UB900 4K/Blu-ray player -JVC RS500 Projector -35 foot Monoprice Cabernet Ultra Series Active High Speed HDMI Cable - 4K@60Hz HDR 18Gbps cable -Dishnetwork Hopper 3 DVR -Apple TV (not 4K, internet speed is only 3M) -Current Speaker layout is 7.2.4 (2 top front and 2 top back atmos speakers) but would change if I could process more channels I can wait for Dirac with PEQ available to use as I have used REW before, so that isn’t the issue. What I am concerned about is glitches where there is either no audio or video, or the processor needing rebooted etc with satellite tv, blueray or 4K (from disc only, nothing streamed). Any help greatly appreciated to see what kind of things I should expect with the XMC2 with the current firmware. Thanks again.

I use the xmc-1 remote app on my iPhone and really like it because it can read through the media cabinet with doors closed where I have to open for the metal remote. Has any tested that app on the XMC-2? Are they going to release an xmc-2 app? Thanks.

So I recently sold my XPR5 and was planning on buying the Outlaw 7220 when I saw a Craigslist ad for a Sherbourn 7/2100. I figured why not and bought it same day.
One thing I’m noticing with the Sherbourn that I didn’t notice as much as the XPR5 is the 2 second sync up when I fast forward on Netflix. It doesn’t make sense as to why I would notice it more.
Weird...

So my quick take since I don’t know all you’re gear: * The AppleTV should be fine as it’s just HD, no Atmos. * I had a Hopper 3 when I first installed the V3 board, it worked fine, even a 4K soccer game, but shortly after I switched to DirecTV, also fine. * The Panasonic should be fine as well, several here have them. * The Projector with Cabernet cable would be my unknown, the cable should be good but at that length it’s never a sure thing. Based on an exchange with Kieth a few days ago, it will not have Dirac Bass management initially. After the initial release there will be a (free?) improvement to bass management from Dirac. Sometime later than that Dirac Bass Management upgrade will be available for an additional charge. Also note the XMC-2 and RMC will come with "full" Dirac standard and no "lite" version.

I just downloaded from the app store and used the refresh button and it works great. David says the same app works on the XMC-2 as well.

Danny So I have my RMC-1 hard wired into my network via cat 5 connection in the back of the RMC-1. My wireless router is also tied into my network. I just downloaded the XMC-1 app and the rmc shows up when I turn the app on. I didn't have to do anything to the RMC itself to get it on the network after I plugged it in.
