I currently have an MC-700 which I am adequately satisfied with from an audio and video standpoint. I probably do 90% music listening and some 5.1 for movies and OTA broadcast. My main question is, is the XMC-1 worth the upgrade for Dirac and the XLR outputs? Any improvement in sound quality? I currently run a XPA-5 with non-differential input from the MC700 and the sound is quite fine, I just would not object to a little improvement sound quality (as always). I also realize that there have been several folks on this site that deplore the MC-700, but I have not had the issues they have had and have been very satisfied with its performance at its price point. Thanks.

For me when I went from a UMC-200, DIRAC was a game changer.

It seems like one of the only comparative units to the XMC is the Inegra DHC-60.7 and I have read both good and not so good reviews of that unit. I like many, have little interest in Atmos or anything greater than a 5.1 system, but I do not want a separate system for stereo listening.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the XMC-1 for Home Theatre or music listening, except you say you’re happy with what you have. If you’re really looking to try and find something better it would be a great choice.

I've heard both. For me the XMC-1 was sonically better and I would consider it a significant upgrade over the mc700. Also the XMC-1 just looks fantastic and well built imo.

Buy an XMC-1, you’ll be thrilled in ever aspect! enjoy the music

Another vote for the XMC-1 along with the differential balanced for your 2 channel listen. It will do your music well.

Never had an MC-700 but I've been enjoying my XMC for 5 years now. Dirac alone is worth it.

Absolutely. I prefer the XMC-1 also for the UI versus the one in the MC-700.
