My apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but with PS5 and Xbox X (hopefully!) getting closer, is there any word as to whether or not, and if (again, hopefully) when any of the Emotiva processors will feature it?
Yes, still not here, but VRR and some of the other attributes of HDMI 2.1 will be great for gamers. 8K will be nice, but the other stuff will, IMHO be what finally pushes this across the finish line. SOme new AVRs will have one input/output, but as long as this will (one more time, hopefully) happen, it would be nice to have at least two HDMI 2.1 inputs.
Any inside thoughts on this?
THANKS

I get it may be some time before we get the joy of spending 2 years of FW updates with a new 8k upgrade, but it should not keep everything else from working.

This is the problem with always running from behind. 4 years is a long time. 8k needs to be a working option by mid 2021. When I say working.. I mean working. Not 2 years of FW updates.

I'm still 1080p haha, I have no plans for 4k as I for sure cannot afford a 4K projector, 8K my goodness it's getting out of hand already, I don't even want to know of all the issues there will be with that considering how flaky 4K can be with even using the wrong cable hahaha

So afte spending all this money to go ATMOS, including getting a new media streamer (Nvidia Shield 2019) I had to explain to my spouse why only Netflix is ATMOS. Sigh

It's hard to beat good, high resolution on a big screen. Not that lower looks bad. You just kinda get used to it I guess. I have a Runco 720p projector that has a very nice picture, but I'm not converting UHD down to 720 .

Where can I get the 8K version of Battlezone? Lots of quarters left my pocket to play this game. I loved vector graphics! Everything I've read from this year, all of which pre-dates the pandemic, was predicting 2021 and into 2022 for all the 8K bits and pieces of the puzzle to fit together nicely. Now? Who knows?

How many sources do you expect by then? More than one? Ok, two different gaming consoles, what else? If HDMI 2.1/8K in your RMC is a requirement by then, I’d cut your frustration now. I’d expect most 8K sources to have dual HDMI ports for audio and video (like many UHD & BRD players). Run your video directly to the 8K TV and audio to wherever. Can’t imagine anyone will have OSD’s with 8K so no loss. Since games are probably the only source material for some time, the rest of your sources could run normally. I don’t get it, there are virtually no sources to take advantage of that path. But then this is probably the 10th thread like this in the last 3 years, and I’m still waiting to hear a good justification to pass it through the processor. I am totally on board for a 100+“ 8K MicroLED when the price is right, but I expect little or no native material, so just pass the 4K through and let the TV upscale.

When it comes to video sources 8k is not a particular concern as we have only just started with true 4k dci's [ many uhd 4k discs are 2k dci;s upscaled]. It would be nice to know if the 2.0b board is compatible with E-ARC though for those who like to stream .. For video games it would be good if Emo could say if the current hdmi2.0b board can be programmed for VRR;QMS and ALLM as hdmi2.1 isnt strictly needed for these Especially when rtings lists those tvs that can take advantage of these features allready www.rtings.com/tv/learn/tv/tests/inputs/hdmi-2-1

Im still at 1080i thanks to a 2004 Sharp Aquos tv that keeps on running like the Energizer Bunny😎 Good news ; being a led tv they all are progressive scan so its actually 1080p Any interlaced video automatically gets de-interlaced to progressive .Ive got a Sharp Aquos too being fed converted mp4 yputube music video files in a back room ; unlike ones today certainly built to last
