I feel less bass from my front mains after DIRAC calibration when listening music using reference stereo. Anyone feel the same or it is just my illusion?

Did anything change with levels, etc? Might be a good idea to use a preset without Dirac for this since reference stereo doesn't use bass management or really any processing whatsoever.

No intended difference that is. 😉 We know there are weird things happening that shouldn't be.

I think DIRAC auto adjusted levels for each speaker although the level are all 0 because before I have to manually adjust the levels to make them sound even. It also added a EQ. I did do a test by switching the EQ to the user, but still feel the same. Maybe it is just my illusion. By any means DIRAC would decrease the bass even without using the EQ?

Good bass is smooth. Bass should not overpower the music.

Dirac may have adjusted levels up or down for any speaker but it would be an overall level change and not just the bass region of any channel. Levels adjustments are performed in the analog domain while FR adjustments are done in the digital domain. According to Emotiva, Reference Stereo bypasses ALL DSP.

Repeating what others said above...reference stereo uses no processing. Zero. Nada. Zilch. Not a single setting, like crossovers, levels, DIRAC, or anything is in play. Are you 100% sure you have the input set to reference stereo? Is the unit confirming that to you in the display? Mark

Also, you say you have "less bass" when using reference stereo...well, independent of DIRAC you SHOULD have less bass on reference stereo than in other setup options (which might use DIRAC). Reference stereo sends no signal to your sub. So...unless you use a trick like I do with reference stereo, your sub will not be playing in reference stereo...so relative to other setting options...you very well could have less bass in reference stereo.
