Good thing I saw this thread, if I was oblivious to the forum, having purchased UMC-1 a long time ago, I would have assumed this card was still good as long as Emotiva was still in business.

I'm not sure if Emotiva has done so yet, but they should send a blanket email to ALL with this announcement. Also, display this on the front page of the Emotiva website.
I'm not going to argue whether this is a bad move or not, it is their company and they can do what they want. Just make sure the word is out there for people who still have these cards so they have time to either use them or sell in time for someone else to take advantage.

It is a shame they are cancelling , it was supposed to be for all future processors.

Especially when you've already made the statement in text that they will never expire. A forum announcement, website announcement, email and direct mail to all current card holders. Otherwise.. You just leave yourself open for backlash.

They should extend it for all of 2021. If you give people a year notice that is much better than a hidden note about it in a podcast.

This is a small deal and unfortunately they got burned by the 40% card as they obviously couldn’t tell the future. They made a mistake being small business owners and not having a good legal department to allow this to be traded in the open market. So as far as I’m concerned, I felt that these cards in part devalues my processor (it’s debatable). Anyway Emotiva has bigger issues to worry about like Dirac Bass Control and how to get their amps to sell like hot cakes again.

I have no idea how many cards are left and whether they got burned or not, but I still think they should have more prominent messaging to make sure those that have the cards are able to do something with them. Just my .02.

Just my .02. This is it exactly, plus Dan said over and over again how it would be up on the site in the podcast. They just never learn how foolish they look every time the CEO promises something and doesn't follow through. It's a big reason why I don't think many even listen to the podcasts anymore; not much useful info and then what's in it isn't even trustworthy.

I've had friends abandon this brand in droves due to false promises. I'd love to be able to continue to refer people to this company but honestly I'm not sure if my own reputation is worth it. Dan, or whomever makes the calls should have prepared for this situation and once they were thinking of discontinuing the card, there should have been some kind of post made, not just a stupid podcast that only a handful of people tune in to. I've been in this forum since 2012 and I have only listened to three podcasts in their entirety. I think the cards may as well be thrown into the fireplace as tinder at this point, no way that the majority of card holders are going to fork over that kind of money for a processor at this time...even more so with such short notice.

It seems pretty obvious that all movement currently is projecting toward minimizing loss and generating net new revenue. Just my opinion. While I think that is certainly a good idea, you must deliver on your promises or you'll always be needing to generate new sources of revenue.

Sure, it is more stable and functions well enough for most.. But they are still a long ways from completing what they released. This is about maximizing revenue and limiting loss and outstanding liability. Change my mind. 😉
