Hi all
Just started experiencing this strange bug a week ago. My XMC-2 gets sluggish and poorly responsive after a period of standby.
Now I haven't changed anything. Upgraded to FW2.1 when it was released, also had setup Dirac. Has been working like a charm until last weekend. It seems to happen after coming out of standby for a period of time. (I have Video On while standby enabled. more on that later).
The only time I experienced this prevoiusly was when I try to switch to ARC from standby. The ARC wouldn't work and the processor will be very sluggish any control. I cannot even switch inputs. Will resolve after switching off at the rocker switch. ARC will also be working fine.
But this time, doesn't matter which input i am in. The unit will be sluggish. And worse, not provide any video signal. Again, the fix is to turn off at the rocker switch. The only thing that has happenned was a software upgrade from my Sony TV.
As for enabling the Video On function, I do not actually need to passthrough video while the unit is on standby. The reason is because I use the trigger switch to switch on my power amp.Unfortunately, the XMC-2 takes quite some time to boot up but the trigger signal occurs when it powers on. So I get the situation where the power amp will be ready, while the XMC-2 is still booting up. And then ther would be this spine-tingling pop on all my speakers. Hence I had to keep the standby at a higher power state to avoid that.
Do any of you have any idea why my XMC-2 started acting strangely. And/or if I can delay the trigger signal until the processor has fully booted?
Cheers All

Funny you should post this tonight. I had the exact same thing happen with my RMC-1. Turned on OK, but no sound. The controls were very sluggish...turning the Vol Knob did nothing, and then it moved the level. I rebooted by holding the front button and when it came back up it was fine.

You shouldn't have mentioned ARC! You'll likely just get replies pointing out it is the son of Beelzebub and how you should get an external streamer!
For the issue, I think that, just like a Windows PC, these complex processors need a full reboot every now and again. Some stack overflows here, memory losses there, stuck registers etc just accumulate and cause strange malfunctions.
The only solution to try for the the power-up pop from your speakers would be setting a lower Power-On volume. You can't change the trigger order.
I use Video on Standby more for the faster boot time convenience and thankfully not had a (known) problem with it.

I use the trigger to switch on my XPA-5. I have the XMC-2 set to "Lowest Power". My amp doesn't switch on until the entire boot sequence is complete, After the "Rethink High End" blurb.

@marckc Hmm, may try that. @ JNieves that's interesting. Mine starts up from the getgo! Some updates. The TV is innocent! I unplugged the trigger and IR input/outputs, as well as the network cable and the USB drive I was too lazy to remove after firmware updates. Problem has disappeared. I have plugges in the trigger tonight to see what happens. Now is a process of elimination. I do wonder if it has something to do with the network.

Ok. The culprit is tye network cable, or network to be precise.
Any ideas why?

It means that after installing Dirac filters, it's best to unplug the network cable and rely on a non-ethernet remote control system like IR or, better, something like the harmony hub that direct connects to the Emotiva processor's rear IR in socket via a 2.5 to 3.5mm audio cable

I have been having issues when the XMC-2 has been sitting idle, it will not pass audio. I have to switch the main power switch on and off, have it go through a full reboot, at which time it powers down and then I can restart it. I have not set the Dirac filters yet.
