Finally decided to take the plunge and update my system from a Denon AVR-x4500h to Emotiva XMC-2 and a XPA-9!
I won't get the XPA until maybe next week and XMC a week or so latter. My plan is when the XPA arrives, I will be using the AVR preamp outputs to the XPA and redoing audyssey calibration to evaluate the new amp. Finishing up complete changeover when the XMC-2 arrives.
As one new to Emotiva equipment would like to ask for any suggestions to make a easy change over.
Thanks Rew

Welcome! I believe you will find the Emotiva equipment to sound better than the Denon even though Denon makes some good stuff. The separate amp is a big improvement.
Take your time setting up the XMC-2. Dirac will be a definite learning curve as compared to the Audessey system. Look at online videos on setup and read as much as you can to familiarize yourself with the process.

Thanks guys, I have another question on the XMC-2.
My sub is a SVS SB-3000 which does not have XLR inputs only RCA. In looking for an XLR cable they are wired the opposite of the Emotiva. I know I could make one but is there any out there or best suggestion to alter one.

I know I could make one but is there any out there or best suggestion to alter one. You know I have a Rythmik sub and have used a Monoprice RCA to XLR cable without issues. I now have a cable made by Afford HIfi that works great. I never once gave thought about the internal wiring of the cable even though there has been talk about it. Not sure of the resolution, but my system works fine. The Afford Hifi cables are custom made with using Neutrik XLR connectors, Canare, Mogami, or Belden cable and are very well priced. If you are concerned, I'm sure you can work with them about wiring them. Their website (small operation) is currently down as the owner is looking for a less expensive hosting site, but I can give you his contact info. Here is a review from 2019: hometheaterhifi.com/blogs/afford-hifi-interconnects-review/I will get you James' email when I get home from work if you want it.

Nice choice, my first Emotiva amp, an XPA-2 was driven by a Denon processor, I could not believe the difference it made for stereo 2.1 music in particular. I added an XPA-3 a short time later and then DD5.1 really came alive, I rewatched so many movies just because of the improved sound. To save some space I sold the XPA-2 and XPA-3 to my cousin and replaced them with an XPA-5 which I still have today.
Cheers Gary

I think the XPA-9 is a great amp. I have one myself running form my RMC-1 and it sounds great. The only downside I see to what you are doing is your Denon AVR will only have unbalanced outputs, so you will have to use unbalanced connections until your XMC-2 comes in. Not a huge deal, but something to mention. I would for sure run all balanced connections form the XMC-2 to the XPA-9 once it all comes in. As far as the sub goes I don't think it being in or out of phase will make any difference. Just get a XLR to RCA cable and you will be fine.

In other words, buy some XLR cables and wait until you have both XMC2 and XPA9 before switching over. Unless you want to evaluate the improvements of the amp only first, then improvements of the XMC2 and Dirac. Hopefully your image for 2 channel post Dirac will be centered. Also, you may want to avoid Dirac v3.0.13 which is crashing during the filter upload process.

Well my XPA-9 is on it's way should be here Thursday. So I will use the the Denon initially as I would like to have a feel for the amp difference, even though not optimal.
Have already purchase all my cables.
What version of Dirac is currently the best?

That’s how I started too, but instead of 1 week it took me a year before I changed out my receiver to a pre/pro so you are way ahead of the game here. With respect to Dirac, try v3.0.11 first. If you get a centered image then you are golden.

Received XP-9 as expected and I have it halfway installed using the Denon but lacked additional banana plugs for upper Atmos channels which should be here today so I can then finish. But using the 5 main channels has been interesting. It maybe a placebo effect but playing some action movies like 2012 and Blade Runner 2049 sure sounded fantastic to me. Can't believe how cool it runs, barely warm even after watching these action movies.
My XMC-2 was shipped late on Friday and should be here by Tuesday. But have few questions:
Has Emotiva started to ship the Dirac kit with the prepros, or do I need to contact them to make sure it gets sent out? UPS show shipping weight at 30 lbs.
Is it still taking up to 5 days for Dirac to approve Live use?

One more thing is there a good Win10 program which acts like GUI for control and setting the XMC-2?

Update Received my XMC-2 on Tuesday. Waited for it to reached room temp and then installed. Dirac kit is due in Saturday. Still waiting on my Dirac license approval.
I wish I could say all went well. It seems XMC-2 is not handling the Vizio P75-C1 EDID correctly to enable Dolby Vision; I am waiting for a call back from Emotiva.
Devices Affected:
Xfinity X! Shield ATV Pro(2019) Apple TV 4K Roku Ultra
Oddly enough my Oppo UDP-203 and Oppo M9702 standalone work; UHD and Atmos content seem to play fine.
Yes, I have checked and changed cables, remember I transferred all devices from my old system with a Denon AVR-x4500h where everything was working without any issues.
I pulled out my HDFury Vertex2 just in case Emotiva can't provide quick fix. Don't really want to use it as it does get a bit messy with cables and configuration as a system and it can only handle 3 of the 4 devices; having to leave one device out. But may need it to troubleshoot.

Can you factory reset the display? It might still be holding on to the EDID from the Denon.

" When connecting a HDMI 2.0 device, HDMI Color Subsampling needs to be enabled to support 4K resolution at 60hz.To enable/disable HDMI Color Subsampling:1. From the Inputs menu, tap HDMI Color Subsampling. The HDMI Color Subsampling menu is displayed.2. Find HDMI input that your HDMI 2.0 device is connected to and swipe the switch right to enable and left to disable HDMI Color Subsampling." Which HDMI Output is being used on the XMC-2? HDMI-2 Output is considered the Primary, although I'm able to use either for DV, but some have better luck with HDMI-2, more specifically, the Apple TV can be finicky with this.

Thanks, yes, I checked that "Full UHD Color" is On, this was checked first thing after setting up the XMC-2 and yes HDMI-2 on the XMC-2 is what I used to connect P75 to.
I even checked for others having the P75-C1 and could not find anyone.
I even verified the the shield directly connected to one of the P75 HDMI inputs and it worked as it should with sound through TV speakers.

The default setting in the XMC-2 for HDMI Type is "2.0", but it's worth checking to be sure that's how it's set. Menu:: Setup:: Inputs:: Hdmi 1::HDMI Type:: 2.0 or 1.4 Other than that, the processor just passes the video along.

Hi!! I see that you are an axiom auydio fan. Congrats they are excellent speakers. I use the m80 myself. You have made the right choice. Emotiva amps and processors are fully capable of doing a good job with these speakers. My only advice is to go to two subwoofers when you can. Not because you need more volume but because two subwoofers help even out the bass response in the room. It makes a HUGE difference imo.

Totally agree about Axiom speakers and yes a second SB-3000 is in the plan but just made the jump to XMC-2 and XPA-9 so have save some more for this next step.

rew452 one more thing. Disconnect everything and unplug the power for a few minutes. Then connect just one source, like the cable box or ATV, so it's just source/XMC-2/tv. When I had issues with my ATV4K this is what I did, but the problem for me ended up being a setting in the ATV4K. But it's generally a good practice to simplify when diagnosing issues.
