One of the reasons I bought the XMC-2 is because I have a large collection of multi-format music and movies, DTS, Double Dolby, DTS-MA, Etc. When I was using my old Denon I would simply set it to ”Auto” and whatever format my source material was the Denon would switch into that mode. For some reason once in a while the XMC-2 will switch to the mode of the source material but nine out of 10 times it does not. I try switching to auto or other formats and it simply does not pick up and translate the signal in its format. What am I overlooking? What setting do I need to change?
So far, for the price point, this is disappointing!

So far, for the price point, this is disappointing! There are two independent settings for preselection of a decoding format for both multi-channel and stereo source content. You can predefine a specific decoder or simply select "Auto". This setting can be set differently for any/all inputs. You'll find those settings here... Menu > Setup > Inputs > (Choose Input) > 5.1 Mode > AutoMenu > Setup > Inputs > (Choose Input) > 2.0 Mode > AutoKeep in mind that if you have a speaker configuration greater than 5.1, an upmixer (Dolby Surround or DTS:NeuralX) will always be the default when using the "Auto" mode.

I think you mean sorry, not thank you! (Sorry to Emotiva, I mean. At this price point they very reasonably expect you to RTFM)

I did read the manual and used the suggested settings but it still was not decoding properly. After confirming I had the setup right by posting here.....I went looking for another cause and solution. Thank you for your contribution and the clarity you added in identifying the caliber and classy type of individual you are. I look forward to you abstaining from illuminatimg my threads! Thank you and have a great day!

Indeed, and often times when the fool has nothing to contribute in their silence they're mistaken as wise. Proverbs 11:12

So, I did you find a solution to the problem? Yes, I did. Part of the solution was the inaccurate decoding by the XMC-2 of some media sources. (This happens a lot with this processer.) Some of the issue for DTS sources in particular were certain settings of a Non Emotiva media player.

I'm only curious because I've never seen such behavior in my setup and would like to see if it's easily reproducible. If it is, I'll forward this information to Support for further research...
