As to the comment about 5.1 2 being preferred over 7.1, I'd probably agree, my first testing with 7.1.2 was enlightening enough for me to permanently mount 7.2.4 and the .4 wasn't as big a difference as the .2. Ed Mullen is also a very knowledgeable (and friendly) guy. Ironically I emailed SVS yesterday with a question about my SVS PB 12 Plus/2 and Ed Mullen answered me!

The bottom line of all this is that I do believe we're heading in the direction of your TV becoming your only source - or at least your primary source.
And, with the TV as your main source, the only question is going to be: "How do I get high quality audio from my TV to my home theater sound system". Presumably, Emotiva already asked that question on behalf of their consumers. Is this your way of telling us that the HDMI 2.1 board will be getting e-ARC into existing (upgradable was the sell point) and any new audio processors as a necessity? Secondly, to process this high quality audio input, will we get bass management fixed, even without e-ARC, so that Emotiva home audio systems with a subwoofer can play audio as Dolby intended with the necessary bass redirection that has been a de-facto requirement in multichannel systems for over 20 years, even for those with "capable full range" speakers?
