Hi all, I am seeking both advice and information here. I recently bought an RMC-1L and will be installing it in a new home with dedicated space near the end of this month.
Question 1: I am familiar with using REW for assisting with speaker and sub placement, time aligning and crossover points. I see the Emo processors allow these files to uploaded (I'll read up on how), does this actively provide bass control and time alignment? How does it interact with Dirac? I am thinking once I find ideal measurements and run Dirac I can adjust the Dirac settings to accommodate the REW findings (if necessary) instead of installing/using both REW files and Dirac profiles.
Question2: In my current less than ideal listening room I have been playing with Direct and Stereo reference modes. I have an ERC-4 and Bluesound Node running digital into a Gustard X16 DAC and balanced to the 1L. I use speaker profile 1 for speakers set to small and using subs for LFE and profile 2 for LR channels set to large (Polk LSiM 707s). Switching between speaker profiles is easy using the remote but accessing Reference Stereo is a pain.
Anyway, can anyone here confirm that the analog signal remains analog in both of these listening modes? I assume since Stereo mode enables Dirac that is when the signal becomes digitized and therefore the internal 1L DACs take over from the Gustard.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Trevor

Trevor The filters loaded up from REW are frequency corrected only and have no time or phase correction. You do have individual distance setting available in the RMC to help with that. You cannot use those filters and Dirac simultaneously. It's one or the other. With Dirac you can set you own "target" curve for a desired frequency response but you cannot alter any settings other than frequencies above and below which you do not want Dirac to adjust. Reference mode uses no processing so the signal stays analog if it is analog at the inputs. Other modes convert the signal to digital.

… Switching between speaker profiles is easy using the remote but accessing Reference Stereo is a pain. … geebo has nailed your questions, here’s a suggestion for accessing features more easily. The Emotiva Remote App can directly select Reference Stereo (and other appropriate modes), both the iOS and iPadOS versions have been updated recently. A Harmony remote can also give direct access to those features, but the App is free. Here’s a screenshot of the iPad app, and a link to the App thread (and yes, I’m actually using the tuner!) emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/58561/official-emotiva-remote-app-rmc

Awesome, this is exactly what I was looking for and I appreciate you taking time to respond. I was hoping Direct was still an analog path with basic bass management but Reference Stereo does sound awesome so all good. The info on Dirac is also helpful. Thanks again.

I own a Harmony Elite and will program some soft keys for Reference Stereo. I haven't played with the remote app yet as there were rumblings of the processor being slowed down when plugged into a network (and it has to be to use the app doesn't it?), but from your screenshot it looks useful so I'll try it out. As mentioned above in my other reply, I appreciate you guys taking time to respond with valuable info.

There was an issue where the NIC would stop responding when things got busy, I mostly found it when playing 4K / Atmos discs, but the recent firmwares have helped a lot with slowdowns, and of late the App has been rock solid for me. There was also some speculation that traffic hitting the NIC could slow the processor down, but with a switch the device should only see traffic destined for that address — which at this time could only come from the App (or custom Apps). So, I’ve always considered the App essential and never tested ‘unplugged’ (and yes you do need to be plugged in to use the it).

I must say my 1L is running quite well on v2.3. Nice gear in that signature of yours, aspire to owning a pair of 805s at some point in my life.
