Just received a notice this morning Emotiva now has stock available for the trade-in from XMC-1 to XMC-2/RMC-1, however they is a price increase as well as a new video board apparently which is referred to as the Version 3 video board. I have a query into the fold at Emotiva but thought I would reach out here to see what I could learn about the price increase and newer board. My guess is their prices have been increased from across the board and thus had to raise their own prices.
Thanks

Thanks No word on a "new" video board (HDMI 2.1), but the current HDMI board is commonly referred to as " v3". Their first board (v1) was the original HDMI 1.4b. The "v2" board was HDMI 2.0 compatible on one input and one output, but did not support HDR in any form. The "v3" board supports HDMI 2.0b on all inputs and outputs and supports all HDR formats (except possibly HDR10+). Hope that helps (and I'm not surprised to hear about a price increase)...

Thanks for that info, had previously thought the Version 2 board supported more than your description. In any case the options are a bit different now which made me think some really was unique in the works.

The current "HDMI 2.0b" board is the "v3" board.
The original board actually supported 4k video - but didn't support the HDCP copy protection required to play most commercial 4k content.
(So it could in fact play non-protected 4k content, such as computer graphics, but not most disc, cable, or streaming content...)
The v2 board added support for this HDCP on one input and one output. The v3 board upgraded all of the inputs and outputs to full HDMI 2.0b .
Thanks for that info, had previously thought the Version 2 board supported more than your description. In any case the options are a bit different now which made me think some really was unique in the works.

I’ve noticed if you just choose “Processors” the prices you see on the individual models are lower in some cases (RMC-1, RMC-1L), but when you click on them they show the regular price. Oh, I see, the XMC-2 has had a $200 price increase, inevitable I suspect and not too surprising after this long, 3 years now? Edit: I wonder if the price increase anticipates the release of the V4 / HDMI 2.1 board? I remember the XMC-1 may have had a similar increase about the time the V3 board came out, and anyone who purchased during that time got a free upgrade (rather the board was free). Edit: Now I see, they’ve broken out Dirac. If you want Dirac the price is now $3199, but you can buy without Dirac for the original $2999 price.

AudioHTIT I was addressing the trade-in prices where they used to be about $150 less with shipping. For instance the XMC-1 trade for the RMC-1L would have been $2049 previously but is now $2199. A sales rep responded to my chat and said yes they have been hit by price increase and just had to pass it along. Its understandable. He did not mention anything about a version 4 board though, so my guess is if and when that becomes available it would be yet another upgrade price.

Quite a shock and a huge increase from $600 with V3 board to an XMC-2 now being $800.
For us in Canada that is huge plus having to add the exchange.
