I've been fairly happy over the years with my UMC-1, but HDMI 2.1 and PS5 has made it time to upgrade (using the SHARC has had so many issues, it works but inconsistently and has audio drop outs, as I understand it, its a problem with Samsung TV not the SHARC or UMC-1). I signed in here to see whats happening with Emotiva and see if perhaps HDMI 2.1 might be coming in the next 6 months or so, and I see the locked thread that the 40% off coupons are expired, with no details, reasoning etc but the upgrade for life is valid. I still have my card and still have my original UMC-1. What category do I fall into? I also don't see any threads about it when I search for "40%". Thanks!

Yes, the 40% discount cards are no longer valid, it was first announced about a year ago and they became void on January 1st 2021. Its been well discussed and there isn't much point in beating it any more. As for UFL, originally you had to buy a 'qualifying product', which I believe was any processor at the time, this even included the AVRs they had at the time (8100), and the UMC-200, even early XMC-1 owners.. I think at some point UMC-1 owners may have been 'grandfathered' in to UFL (25% off processors), if that's true, you would fall into that category. Really though, your best bet is to call them next week and see what their records show as that's all that's really important. Edit: Here's a thread about the 40% Cards Lively discussion about 40% cards expiringEdit: Here's a post from Big Dan that describes UFL and basically says that you're in the club Big Dan explains UFL

Thanks! Ny board searching skills must be seriously lacking... i tried 40%, discount card, and a few other searches. Disappointing that I never saw this news and they never contacted me - I probably would have purchased an XMC-2 with the coupon, but new audio equipment was the last thing on my mind at this time last year. My use is about evenly split between music, movies and gaming, and the gaming pretty much requires hdmi 2.1. Amazing that I held onto the UMC-1, and the coupon, this long. I had preordered it before it was ever released.

For instance, using Google this finds you threads about the 40% card: site: emotivalounge.proboards.com 40% card Assuming your UMC still works and If you need HDMI 2.1, you might want to wait a bit. The HDMI 2.1 card is still not available, but in ‘prototype’ 🤷♂️ So if your not in a hurry, you wouldn’t have to pay for an upgrade.

I can agree it is too bad they went away with the 40% card but they can do what they want/need with any of the programs they have offered us, also if you think of it this way even the UFL is 25% off and I know of no other company selling processors this way, 25% off is a heck of a lot better than 0% Chad

Thanks for the tips on google searching the forum, I had no idea you could do that!
Yeah... now I'll have to research Marantz and possibly a few more. The 40% off made it pretty much a no brainer that going with Emotiva would be the best bang for the buck, and it still might be with UFL or even straight up but it does open the door now, especially since they didnt even email me about the 40% going away (I still have the email account the UMC order was on) and I have had a pretty rocky experience (to Emotivas credit they always fixed things... but its better if things never broke in the first place).
