Question, does your XMC-1 normally feel Cool or HOT when running normally. My definition of running normally is 1.5 to 2 hours of watching Cable or viewing a NetFlix movie. I seem to recall that in the pass that my XMC-1 had ran cool, as in room temperature. More recently I noticed that it is running very hot to my feel. By the way I have NOT upgraded my XMC-1 to HDMI 2.0 yet.
My follow-up question, do I need to be concern with it running hot, will it adversely impact my XMC-1? Lastly, at what temperature should I be adding a fan or other solution?
BTW, I feel I should share, this might be as others refer to as a "Senior Moment" for me. Which in all honesty, wouldn't be unusual for me these days.
Thank you, I appreciate any and all feedback or suggestions. I wish everyone only good health, laughs, and happiness, Jeff

I don't recall my XMC-1 running hot, warm maybe, but not hot.
I would give Emotiva Support a call and get their take and suggestion(s).

Mine always ran warm, never hot, in Video Remains On mode (so, always on basically). Warm is maybe up to 110 °F. My definition of hot is over 120 °F.

Yep this was the next thing I thought to point out. Mine is set to shut off entirely, requiring the longer boot time, so it’s stone cold now. I rarely touch the thing, but I never recall it being warmer than common sense tells me it should be. (Not like an amp).

As others have said my XMC-1 was warm to the touch, actually much warmer than my DR amps but would have never thought it to be hot. Not even sure I noticed a difference at idle vs after watching movies and that sort of thing. Are you sure your XMC-1 is getting enough ventilation?

With all the processing and analog circuitry inside my XMC-1 always ran "warm" to the touch. Never so hot I could not lay my palm on it and hold it there.
From memory (so probably wrong): Most folk adjust their hot-water heaters to about 120 degF, and you can hold your hand on something at that temperature for maybe ten minutes before it starts to hurt (which seems like "forever" if you are standing there with your hand in the water). A few degrees higher cuts the time to a minute or two, and around 140 degF you only have maybe 5 seconds before your hand starts to burn. Why do I care? Consumer electronic parts are typically rated to 85 degC or about 185 degF. Allowing a 40 degC rise to the devices inside (rough rule of thumb) means the outside should not exceed about 45 degC or 113 degF, close to the 120 degF number for hot water. So, I get nervous and look to improve airflow if I cannot rest my hand on a component for a few minutes.
FWIWFM, YMMV, etc. - Don
