So the Harmony Hub and ultimate remote fails too often to properly switch inputs. Looking for a remote control solution that the family can use and that just works. We are open to Fire Cubes, Home Pods, Roomie, Global Cache, or IP control, really anything that works reliably and that does not need a drawer full of remote controls and that is straightforward and that works 99% of the time. Our home theater equipment is in the sig. TIA for recommendations.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but I really do believe that if someone with the coding knowledge can do it, building an Integration in HomeAssistant would be an ideal solution.

I keep it simple with a Harmony 665. It just works, very seldom do I need to hit the help button to fix an incomplete sequence. I don't have an Emotiva processor yet, so cannot comment on how that works.
I chased remote controls for years, decades. Did a bunch of custom programming for the Philips Prontos back in the day, and several others. It always ended up being too complex and a hassle to use.

What are we to do now that all Harmony remotes have been discontinued. Just found this out a couple of days ago. Here at our house we seem to break our Harmony remotes after the 2 to 3 year range. Best Buy is the only retailer I can find with them, and they have increased the price significantly. Thinking of purchasing (hoarding) a couple of them to keep us going for a while. Have looked around and found nothing that compares in ease of use and functionality.

I’ve purchased an extra Harmony Remote, Hub, and Hub extender, I know others have done the same, only solution we have until another solution becomes available..

My favorite remotes are URC and the URC MX-990 is the best remote I've ever owned as well as the best I've ever seen. A great working IR and RF capable remote. RF capabilities require adding an RF base unit. The customization ability is unmatched. URC is far beyond Harmony in every way, much higher quality, better control and so much more customize-able. There is more to learning to program a URC remote but once you learn how they are very easy to program. The main problem is that URC wants to keep their remotes in the professional level to only be programmed by trained professional installers so it's hard to obtain the programming software or you need to pay an installer to program the remote. If they were to aim their products at DIY enthusiast's I think they would be far better off, but their policies go against that. But anyway URC is definitely a very nice remote and they just work awesome. Here's a couple pics of mine to show a little bit of the customization. I have many custom picture and buttons throughout my remote and everything is put exactly where and how I want it. Everything you see on my remotes display was put their by my choice.
This page leads to either my XMC-1 or my Panasonic displays controls, not a great quality photo looks far better in person.
Here's the new custom pic I just made to replace the XMC-1 on my remote when my new RMC-1L arrives.
Here's a better quality photo by URC, this one is on the charger

Hard to disagree with RichGuy about URC products, but $400 vs $50 for the Sofabaton?! (he is a rich guy, lol) I find the quality of URC better than Harmony. URC makes many OEM remotes. I've never had a Harmony last more than 3-4 yrs, Harmony 350 buttons wore-out in about 1 yr. Had the URC MX350 (discontinued) and liked it. Also have a basic URC (office) that still works after ? years. btw, if you have a remote that you really like, but the contact on the buttons has worn, amazon sells a contact paint to restore them.

Anyone using SofaBaton U1 with Emo gear? I very recently bought the newest Sofabaton X1 with Hub from an Amazon affiliate link for quite a good discount which has since expired. I bought it since the investment cost was small and from the actual reviews it’s upside has lots of room for development and growth. I also understand the database of equipment is continually growing, so at a minimum hopefully it should replace the Harmony remotes, I hope. Until I get the time to set it up, I will continue to depend on my Harmony Elite/Hub.
