When I looked at Keith’s post in the owner’s thread, I was pleased to see some news, but also thought how I might change the priorities. Since we’ve been given a peek at what’s on the table, maybe it would be helpful for everyone to voice what they are most interested in. I chose to focus on Keith’s list and the obvious exclusion that hsamwell brought up. I’d prefer we keep the discussion about these topics, but ‘other’ does leave the door somewhat open. Who knows, maybe we could influence the priorities? 🤷♂️ Keith’s Post

While I don’t really ‘need’ HDMI 2.1 or 8K yet, I think it’s obvious from the discussions, that there’s a lot of room for HDMI improvement, this card could provide that. I also think DLBC is an omission that needs to be corrected. I have no current desire for more channels or a streaming solution … but I am interested in more discrete remote codes.

My own personal picks in order…
- Updated upmixers that properly scale to the FULL channel count of the G3 processors and support for all speaker positions (DTS:X Pro and the newest DSU). Obviously, the now three years outdated Dolby crossmixing restrictions must be eliminated. - HDMI 2.1 (only for enhanced ARC support) - Dirac Live Bass Control

All I really want at the moment is HDMI 2.1

One thing worth noting by its omission (and not surprising), it appears they won’t be supporting the HDMI 2.1 board on the XMC-1. Even though it should be physically and electrically compatible, I imagine the code rewrite would be massive, and there could be processing issues as well. Maybe some are disappointed, but again, not really a surprise.
Not surprising either that HDMI 2.1 and DLBC are the favorites.

While none of these selections actually immediately affect my listening pleasure, I selected the HDMI 2.1 board/DLBC/(DTS:X Pro/IMAX Enhanced/latest DSU). I don't have need for HDMI 2.1 yet, as I don't game and there is no 4K@120/8K@60 streaming. While I want to try out DLBC in my home theater, I wasn't overly impressed when I heard the SDP-55 implementation in a friends home theater, and for now my DSPeaker Anti-Mode 2.0 Dual Core works great even though I've not had much play/tweak time with it because of work. I also don't care about the Dolby cross-mixing restrictions, but do want it for everyone else that does. Also the improved DSU and DTS:X Pro/IMAX Enhanced will be welcome as the latest greatest.

... Not surprising either that HDMI 2.1 and DLBC are the favorites. "Not any more" (Inspector Clouseau) It appears "Other Firmware Enhancements" -- likely DTS:X Pro, Dolby / DTS Crossmixing, current DSU / Dolby code -- has taken the lead, with HDMI 2.1 & DLBC tied for second. One has to think that along with the HDMI 2.1 board there has to be a "Major Code Release", so possibly two of these will come together, or at least some of the items in the "Other" category. Hopefully the Emo team is watching what people want the most.
