Does anyone know a reliable Optical/Toslink splitter?

That looked like a better choice to me too.

Yes what Housetech said. I have one similar. Really hard to mess up Toslink. I have one about the same money. Requires power of course it is a 1 in and 3 out affair. Very handy really.

Thank you for the recommendations. I have one and it was working fine until it stopped working after I switched to a new preamp (a PT1). Plastic junk…what was I thinking…?

Interesting 🤔….never thought splitting Toslink ever needed to be anything but “passive”. Could you elaborate? I would speculate that a passive device would indeed be a ‘splitter’, whereas an active unit might be better called a ‘multiport repeater’ (though they still call it a splitter), possibly two ports is the limit for passive splitting? If this is the case the active unit might be better at driving long TOSLink runs (one of mine is very long). I probably wouldn’t use a device with a captured input cable that would be hanging off the back of my processor, and would also get the active unit because I could mount it separately and route the TOSLink cables more cleanly, I could imagine use for a third port, and the build quality looks nicer. Though I dislike the need for a power cable, it is 5V so you might be able to power it from the USB-A port on the back of an XMC or RMC (though not if it actually needs the 1A it’s PS delivers). That said I’d imagine the passive splitter works fine, has the advantage of simplicity, and needs no PS. The passive device also seems to have the capability to work in reverse, so if you had only one TOSLink input, and two devices needing an optical connection (not at the same time), the passive can do that. So there may be a place for both, and that’s more than I’ve ever thought about TOSLink splitting 😅

I’ve thought very little (like most these days I imagine) about Toslink unless there is reason to. Apparently, the optical output strength can vary enough from one component to another to make an “amplified” splitter the better option in some instances. Still, I would question exactly what that does and how it works.

I have the MONOPRICE 4-in and 1 out.... While not exactly what you are looking for? Makes good use of my single preamp optical input.... Got to be careful NOT to lose the 'credit card' size remote.......
