Howdy all, I have a couple of amps that weigh as you all know, 50lbs or so. Currently have one set of 4U rails, and am hoping Emotiva can get 2 more sets in soon so I can finish the install properly. For the bottom Amp, I put on the rack ears and it actually bolts in to the towers up front nicely and sits on the shelf on the bottom supporting all the weight. However for the next two components up the stack, the second amp and the RMC-1, i have a 1U fan system in between each. When the rail kits come in, I want to hook in the middle component but am wondering about the case strain cantilevering all that weight on the front four screws and rack posts, with no support for the rear. Has anyone solved this without installing a shelf? I am avoiding a shelf because it would cause me to run out of space in the rack for the intended fan setup. I was thinking maybe just a couple of square nuts and screws with a strap that has eyelets and the ability to tension, spanning the underside of the rear of the amp to hold that weight. I looked around on Amazon and elsewhere but most of the items require a mounting point on the rail kit or amp itself, and thats not present. Here is the current setup, I have 2 shelves in there now supporting the upper components, but I want to get those out and put in another fan unit on top of the processor. I have just enough room for it, just need to move the network appliance up one hole: TIA, Mick

Sorry, no experience with mounting heavy amps higher up in the rack. My 11 channel sits on the bottom and is supported fully by the rack itself along with the front rack mounts. The mounts for my xmc2 we're not properly manufactured in my opinion, but their functional and the weight supported is minimal. I also have a one you exhaust fan as well only it sits above my amp due to the heat generated. Good luck on finishing up your build. Looks good.

Zero complaints with that system at all over the past 3 years! Love all the AP's in the house and garage, seamless AP floating, and can see all the BS my kid is trying to access! Although now I wish it were black! Thanks for the links, checking them out now. Was hoping to find something that spanned across the rear of the unit, instead of down the sides. but the side ones look like they will work with the existing Emotiva rail kits.

I have an SA-250 in my rack using only the front mounting screws. The amp weighs 58lbs without the rack ears. No issues whatsoever. Back when I had an XPA2 gen1 and an XPA5 gen 1 I used coat hangar wire to hook into the rear of the rack ears and up to some holes in the rack rails. But I'm not sure that was necessary.
