First time since I bought Big Dan's Marantz AV8805 that I would consider its replacement. Note the toroidal linear power supplies, the 4K / 8K display menu capability, 7/3 HDMI, Dirac option, and the 16 channels ready to go. The companion 16 ch amp is Class D with toroidal linear p.s. also. Made in Japan makes for high quality manufacturing also. The price is a stretch for me, but the price of most other upscale brands is absolutely ridiculous. I've liked Marantz, perhaps without ration, ever since I bought my still operational Marantz 8B in 1964.

I also have the RMC-1, but one thing about Marantz is you know it will work and if there are issues it will get fixed quickly. I had a AV8802 and it was solid. The RMC sounds better in 2 channel, but in surround they are pretty similar.

I’m keeping my RMC-1 as it does what I need it to do, HT. My two channel rig is separate and though the RMC-1 sounds extremely good in both two channel and HT I don’t find myself reaching for the Emotiva remote to listen to LP’s or streaming / HDD audio. Even if the Maranz was more affordable I wouldn’t be giving up my processor by Emotiva. Facts are facts! At least my facts to me! Ha! Ha!

Both the processor and amp look very capable, certainly worth keeping an eye on. 200W x 16 in a single chassis is very impressive, though it better be exceptional, for about half the price you can do 16 channels in two chassis, with the same, or more power. I wonder what the AC requirements are for this beast? 2 x 20A wouldn't be surprising. Interesting too that like ATI they're doing Class-D with a toroidal PS, that's certainly part of the higher cost as the less expensive options use the modules with built in power supplies (Hypex, Purify, Pascal). They're a nice looking couple as well.

The sheet showed powered by a toroidal transformer, so I guess we’ll have to wait for CEDIA in a few weeks to get any question marks answered.

Another synopsis of the AV10’s features mention the point below, I hadn’t heard of these technologies before. * Thanks to Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization and DTS Virtual:X technologies, enjoy 3D audio experience only from floor level speakers as small as 2.1 setupfromvinyltoplastic.com/marantz-cinema-series-av-10-amp-10-preview/

I think that would a bit of a stretch to expect rated output all 16 channels even with class D and a linear toroidal supply. Will be interesting to see. I have given up on Denon they’re pretty useless to me now. So Marantz for me is what I am watching from Sound United especially in light of their sudden in flux of short term cash that will hurt them in the long run since Sound United was bought out by a bio medical company needing distribution for their wares. They have no love for audio video and are just using Sound United as a jump off point to get their products to places like Best Buy Etc.
