I'm considering getting a pair of T2+s and I'm looking at receivers. I don't want to spend over $1000 and I like some of the cheaper Denons like the AVR-X1700H. Would these receivers drive these speakers well or am I selling myself short. Also, would the Denons work well with 4 ohm speakers?
Also, since I haven't found anywhere that you can listen to these locally, so I was just wondering how you guys would compare their sound to something like the B&W 603 or the Martin Logan towers. I got a chance to hear both at my local Best Buy with the Denon 1700. I forget the exact model of the Martin Logan towers but they were a bit over $1000 a pair so similar to the T2+s. The soundstage was better on the MLs, the B&Ws sounded like they needed a subwoofer though, to my ears anyway. MLs could have used one too but had a bit more punch.
Appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks, Nick

I think your talking about the martin logan Motion line. I think that line is better than their electrostats for sound. So the good news is that the T2's (haven't heard the T2+) are in the top-level category of best speakers I have heard. Now I have heard some that might do one thing better or another thing better, but if you just take the sound as a whole, these are incredible. If it was ME doing it, I would buy a used Emotiva DC-1, a set of used Emotiva PA-1 amps or a comparative ICE amp and the T2's and call it A DAY. But having said that the Emotiva TA-2 brings you a closer for cheaper and that is really not bad advice. The T2's are some of the best out there, especially at a realistic price point. So don't worry, you are not getting something cheap. The T2's are undoubtedly a system that can last you and grow with your gear. Let me put it a bit better. I love my current speakers. But if I were putting together a setup and had heard the T2's before my purchase, my current speakers wouldn't even be a consideration. The economics are just too good with the T2. Let me give you an example of stuff that is a little better in some aspects than the T2. The $6500 Sonus Faber Sonetto VIII looks way better - the thing has leather! They are good speakers. In the mid-range and treble it sounds a tad more balanced and full but lacks in the bass extension substantially compared to the T2's. That right there was a major downer for me because the Sonetto's price is $6500. Other than those pros of the Sonetto VIII, I compared the two, and I couldn't find a real reason to go for the Sonetto VIII which were priced much higher other than for the outrageously good looks. I heard very close to the same level of detail, but with better bass on the T2s, and cheaper price with the T2's. If somebody gave me the choice right there and I didn't have a very high quality pair of subwoofers, I would have taken the T2's.

Thanks for the recommendations. Would you say the TA-1 is too weak to run the T2+s?
It will be a 2 channel setup. If I do decide to upgrade in time, I'd be ok just selling the 2 channel amp and maybe losing a couple hundred bucks in the process. So a 2 channel amp is fine, and the fact that the TA2 can take a powered subwoofer is nice if I do decide to add one in the future (from what I understand the TA1 is strictly 2.0?)

I think the TA1 will work, however I would go with the more powerful amp. The amp won't have to work as hard and I believe you will get a sound improvement. I've never regretted spending on more power.

The TA-1 will drive the T2 pretty well. Loud enough IMO
