And there is my main issue with streamers - considering their limited function, pricing should be SIGNIFICANTLY less than half those figures. Therefore the $40 Pi... connect it to your favorite DAC and done... you're listening to the DAC and it's hardware implementation anyway. The software, in the case of a Roon endpoint, doesn't require any hands on ongoing maintenance as you can set the update schedule to occur while you're sleeping. If you prefer not to go down the DIY route with a Pi, you're paying for the convenience factor... and all manufacturers will make you pay for that convenience. Same with the Roon core; either pay for a Nucleus or go DIY with a NUC, another computer or a Docker. With the hundreds of Youtube videos available, you should be able to get a Pi up and running as a Roon endpoint within 30mins or so; same with a Roon Core... unbox a NUC, install Rock and done or simply install Core on your computer of choice.

Wow! This is quite a good find. Looks very interesting to me. Thanks! I also have been keeping my eye on it, although I impulsively bought a bluesound node n130 at Axpona. Quite unfortunate as this would have taken care of both streaming and DAC needs. Well, I may sell the node when distribution of the Eversolo gets to Amazon.

A friend of mine has been looking at a true "all in one" system that allows access to internet radio as well as the various apps and that includes a built in amp and display. However he is too cheap to pay the $1500 and up for current fare. Edit: This is interesting. I've always liked info/display screens. I may end up selling my Node 2 if this ever shows up on Amazon again.
