I don't know your standards, but 1K seems like a bargain to me! Closest thing is the Marantz AV7005 @ $1,500. Hmm...The Integra DHC 40.2 seems pretty sweet at $1200 MSRP.

You are not wrong. Lonnie did say he would publish those specs soon. Your only mistake was in thinking that Lonnie would do what he said he would. I like Emotiva but they have not been very diligent about keeping to the deadlines they have set for things of this nature. Ah! so we might not see the Analog version of the XMC-1 next March 2011, as per what we have seen "for sure, sure"? lol

"The plus for the XMC-1 over the UMC-1 is a "hotrodded" analogue section with balanced outputs and more ways to fiddle with the subwoofer settings. And I believe that milled remote costs extra on the UMC-1"
There is also true pass through. Plus every similar function to that of the UMC-1 will be tweaked to the ultimate.
Therefore, I'm expecting a more refined bass mmgt, implementation of full suite of dolby volume & optimized video processing.
The only similarity I'm expecting with the UMC-1, will be the logo and the silver end strips.

On the true pass through, did they state you still have the option for osd?(for real-time adjustment of eq)

Hi folks
I followed the discussion over a long period. For me, one question is always on top: Is there really no need for two HDMI outputs? Lonnie stated in Nov. 2009 that there will be two HDMI outputs. For me this is a MUST have. If not, I will have to choose a different brand, cause I have TV and Beamer at the same processor. What are your thoughts?

Agreed. Two hdmi outs was also a must for me. A pity they have now been dropped, as was looking forward to upgrading to the xmc-1. (Two hdmi outs is becoming common even on mid range avr's now.) Will have to wait and hope that the next model after the xmc-1 has them.

It was released at less than the initial stated MSRP. At least that's what I've been seeing around here and in more recent reviews.

Sorry to get off topic, but which Onkyo does the 40.2 compare to?

Sorry to get off topic, but which Onkyo does the 40.2 compare to? pauly, Onkyo does not have a version of the 40.2 as with their 5508 being a clone of the Integra 80.2. I think the 708 or the 808 AVRs might be the closest but I'm not sure how they directly compare in features and specs. Bill

Any official updates to this official thread from Emotiva? I believe the last official update can be heard in the Jan 28, 2011 podcast. There is zero new information on the Mothership...and that is the only place Emo considers official.

I am thinking that we should be hearing something within a week or so from Emotiva to the effect that the XMC-1 will be delayed until the Fall of 2011. With issues concerning the UMC-1 still to be resolved, the intend chipsets have to be abandoned. There is no way those chips will create excitement in potential buyers when they are still grappling chip related issues with the UMC-1

I think we are way beyond "teething" issues on the platform at this point. Mine is ok, but I can't imagine many are salivating when they read about the daily issues that keep coming. I don't have an upgrade certificate, so it will really take something special for me to buy into the XMC.

Who knows...and at this point - I won't debate XMC-1 arrival time, but I do have my bet placed on the release date in another thread. I am about to lose, but what the heck...I made my bet!
On the UMC-1 stability and the impact of that on the XMC timing, clearly - it has impacted the timing so far. But...I don't see that we have the data to pin the UMC's problems on the chipset. There are so many factors...the chipset, MFG variation in parts that leads to issues, the FW, the sources, user error in setup and/or install, the "iffy" install process, and phase of the moon! Net, without data showing a correlation, we can't pin the UMC's issues on any particular problem. So, they may or may not change chipsets based on the UMC-1 experience. And, given my very positive UMC-1 experience, I would not avoid buying an XMC-1 based on chipset alone.
Whether I salivate or not depends on what features they offer & the price...not merely chipset.

(Yes I know it was originally Dann and not Lonnie, but an Emotiva employee regardless) ...and my other motive was to bump this thread up for those who didn't know, or forgot how long this has been going on.

The Sherbourn 7020a is more like a UMC-1 with balanced outputs.

I noticed that the XMC is billed as 'state of the art', but that was in 2009. Curious if the are changing anything or adding features to really bring it up to speed with the times. Networking, video chip, etc. Considering what is out now, the XMC seems anything but state of the art. Am I missing something?
