I just bought two ERM's and I'm trying to decide where to use them...
I'm setting up a 5.1
I don't have "good" speakers now, so I'm upgrading everything. I also purchased a XPA5 and will be getting a UMC-1 ASAP...
I was thinking of getting a 6.3 as the center and ERDs for the surround.
Would a 6.2 be better for the center? or 3 6.2s and use the ERM's as the surrounds...
Thanks

i like the idea of 3 6.3's up front. Also 3 6.2's up front would be pretty good.
I think it just depends on how much you want to spend and what you personally feel would be the best setup for yourself.
Do you have a sub? If not get thre 6.2's and use the savings for a kickass sub

I just bought two ERM's and I'm trying to decide where to use them... You did not list the complete model number. Did you buy two ERM-1's (used), two ERM-6.2's or two ERM-6.3's.? Let me presume that you have two ERM-6.2's. Then I would suggest you buy a third ERM-6.2 for the center and the ERD-1's for the surround. The 6.2 is the perfect center speaker match for the 6.2 left and right. If you have a 6.3 left and right then get a 6.3 as center. If you have a ERM-1 as left and right then get the ERM-1 as center (as I own along with an XPA-5). You will hear a lot of noise about the center speaker being the most important speaker in HT. I believe this is way over hyped and it is much more important to have the same speaker across the front. All of the Emo speakers, ERM-1, ERM-6.2 and ERM-6.3 are great center speakers as they are extremely natural and defined in the vocal range and have a very high power handling ability. The ERD-1 is the best Emo speaker for surround duty for all the other Emo speakers including the ERT-8.3. ;D I just reread your post and maybe you have two ERM-1's since you mention maybe "using the ERM-'s as the surrounds..." Don't underestimate the ERM-1's as LCR across the front (and don't be fooled by its relatively small size). I have 3ea of the ERM-1's as LCR and two of the ERD-1's for the surrounds in a 13 x 37 x 8.5 room. With the XPA-5 this system plays extremely loud and clean and the ERM-1 center channel is great for both multi-channel music and movies soundtracks.

My suggestion would be that you use 2 6.2's for the front mains and a single 6.3 for the center channel. From what I have heard from Emo speakers, the 6.3 is better designed as a center and the 6.2's get raved about for 2 channel listening. I think this setup would help you achieve the best of both worlds. I know what chuckie is saying about having matching speakers up front, but I think this would give you the best of both worlds. The speakers are going to be close enough that they are going to match without you telling a difference on your front sound stage.

I'm not sure but from everything I've read so far, the most important thing is to match your speakers. I didn't start with good speakers either which was evident when I purchased an XPA-5. I decided to match by purchasing 3 6.3s for the LRC channels and am extremely happy. I'm sure the same experience is possible with the ERM1, 6.2, or 6.3s as long as they are matched. Again like everything else your personal preference is everything.

I should realize (by now) that being specific is a requirement :-).
I purchased the ERM-1s that were on the emporium, so while I like the suggestion of matching the LCRs, I'm not sure how practical finding 1 more ERM-1 is going to be...
So, forgoing a sudden surge of availability on ERM-1s, I would think the 6.2 would be the closest match? no?
