District 9 for the 10th time I absolutely love that movie, very powerful music score.. The CGI is the best acting top caliber other than his wife, I think my wife would have been a lot more distressed at the situation..

Yeah, that's a fun movie all right (District 9), and with terrific audio & video on Blu-ray! But just wait until "District 10" is released, and those abused aliens return all pissed off...

Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang - 2005 This is a good film and I liked M.Monaghan role and of course Downey and Kilmer. This is a black action comedy and worth watching a few times.

YAWN!!!!! ...... HAYWIRE. I saw the 1st 20 minutes then shut it down. Hopefully, I'll finish it tonight before Ms jamrock comes home. YAAAAAWN!!!! That one ("Haywire") was on my 'to buy' list until I read the negative review in Home Theater Magazine about it,...they also said the audio was not very "impactful", and "underwhelming" - especially for a shoot 'em up movie. Please complete your review after you've finished it! FINISHING THE REVIEW: Moooore YAAAWN!!!!. The movie is missing a score. The audio is mixed terribly. The playback on my excellent system sounds like 2.0 rather than 5.1. It sound like an old western, but far less exciting. While I don't care much about the plot, the lack of special effects was telling on my patience. I endured it to the end and so did the actors. Save your money or use it to buy a good merlot. Yaaaaawn

My son and are watching the Bourne Series back to back to back. He has not seen them and is enjoying the films. It is great now that he is old enough to watch some of the action films I enjoy. We have pretty much taken over the home theater in the living room while my wife and daughter head to the bedroom to watch Bravo. lol ;D

Adjustment Bureau Wasnt bad. The wife dug it more then I did. However there was one scene which really took me by surprise. There was a single punch in the movie and it did not sound "hollywood - a - fied" No low end added to it. no high pitched "smack" Just sounded like a fist hitting flesh. Is it odd that this is all I took from the film? ;D

Watched "Due Date", a Robert Downey Jr. comedy from 2010) last night on Blu-ray. I wasn't expecting a lot from this one, but this is a funny movie in the creepy/weird way that co-star Zach Galifianakis always seems to deliver! Better than expected - and its always a good idea to approach ALL movies with low expectations, right? The acting was steady and with good writing & comedy timing, characters are well developed, and,...odd... Starts out with an uptight architect (Downey) encountering the nut job (Galifianakis) at an airport in Atlanta - both trying to fly back to L.A. - the Downey character for the imminent birth of his first child (hence the movie's name...the other wants to be a star...). I won't give much else away here, but suffice it to say that upon their first run in with each other, things don't go well, and deteriorate very rapidly downhill from that point onward. They're thrown together by reluctant necessity after both are thrown off the plane in Atlanta and put on the "do not fly" list. Then the real edgy comedy starts - recommended! (Mrs. Mad Norseman liked it too! - an important factor needed to keep the home theater status high at the 'ol Norseman residence!). Okay, here are my ratings: Movie story interest: 3.5 out of 5 stars. If you're looking for hard hitting, sometimes crude (but not over the top) comedy look no further! Video quality: 4.0 out of 5 stars. The video is everything a 2010 movie ought to be -a nice sharp transfer. Audio quality: 3.5 out of 5 stars, (DTS HD Master Audio 5.1). What's to say about the audio? Just nicely reproduced dialog with some subtle sound effects in the rear channels for situational effect. There is a pretty good car crash scene when "someone falls asleep at the rental car wheel though...bottom line, really its all we need and perfectly suits this film. Overall 3.5 stars - Recommended as a fun comedy. A worthwhile way to spend an hour and 35 minutes! Attachments:

Watched "Winter's Bone" last night on Blu-ray. A very depressing movie about a rural Missouri family (gee!, sure this isn't Appalachia???), where a family with two small children, crazy hopeless mother, and recently absent father is now being tentatively held together by the eldest 17 year old sibling (Jennifer Lawrence). Meth labs, poverty, and general 'hillbilliness' predominate this dark depressing drama,... But! - it is indeed an excellent story, with great acting, and believable characters. No action to speak of, but really intense drama all around. This 2010 film won the Sundance Film Festival's "Best Picture" award that year and I can see why. Okay, here are my specific ratings: Movie story interest: 4.5 out of 5 stars. If you're looking for high family (and extended family) drama, and a great story this is the movie for you! Video quality: 4.5 out of 5 stars. The video is in a bit subdued in color palate - perhaps to give it that depressing overcast weather look, but an excellent and VERY sharp transfer is included here. Audio quality: 4.0 out of 5 stars, (DTS HD Master Audio 5.1). Just nicely reproduced dialog with some sound effects in the rear channels for situational and weather effects. Nicely and clearly rendered. Overall - 4.5 out of 5.0 stars. HIGHLY recommended as an excellent drama. (Bought me some 'Brownie points' with Mrs. Mad Norseman too which is also worth something!). Another very worthwhile way to spend an hour and 40 minutes! Attachments:
