Thanks. I keep trying to talk someone here into trying one, when you guys find out how sweet IB is, there will be fewer tiny little boxes around, and more holes in ceilings, walls and floors.

Maybe for my dedicated room - I'm still trying to get them to send me a Rythmik F15 to replace the wee ASW100 10" ... it looks like they might have no stock left.

I am still running an old Velodyne CHT-12 for my sub. It still sound pretty good to me! I will probably replace it with Emo Subs down the line though

Even though the subs vent out into the attic, wouldn't it be considered a compression loaded design since you are using a sealed manifold with a pressure chamber? Also how are room resonations?Specifically any issues with the attick joists? What did you end up paying for the drivers and plate amp? Regardless, nice setup.

I guess you could call it just aboot anything depending on how you look at it. It's generally called IB. My room is heavily acoustically treated so there are no problems with with resonations ( I think that's what you mean ). And the manifold is bolted to the joists with twelve carriage bolts, plus it fits in there so tightly, it's just like part of the house. I was worried if it would vibrate the whole house, but I listened to my buddies, and it's solid as a rock, no vibration at all. I had many more problems with the SVS PB Ultra /2 ( I don't remember the exact nomenclature )that it replaced. The windows buzzed, the doors shook and rattled, it was terrible. This is smooth as silk by comparison.
Fi makes five lines of drivers, mine are the middle line, what they call their music reference line. They go for $319 apiece, but if you buy four, they give them to you for the price of 15"s, about $160 off. They were $1113, the plate amp was $400. The whole deal was about $1700; I'd put it up against any box or cylinder sub confidently. I went for the higher quality drivers because it was originally going to be music only, because I have a pretty good 2ch rig. Then I tried it with HT and the SVS was out the door.
Sorry Animo, even your eD is a tiny little box compared to this monster.

Sorry Animo, even your eD is a tiny little box compared to this monster. Even when compared to my tiny little apartment? When I get around to the rest of the house, I'm gonna see if the IB will be feasible.

When I get around to the rest of the house, I'm gonna see if the IB will be feasible. Its not really that fact that he has an "IB" setup. Its the fact that he has a ton more cone space plus xmax(in a compression chamber no less) playing those low frequencies. 4 18"s in what I assume is his bedroom? And for $1700? Great bang for the buck. Im basically doing a similiar situation with my 4 15"s, but they will have the advantage of being compression loaded to a concrete floor each with individual servo driven amps, if budget persists I may even do 2 more 15"s for a total of 6 since I found out this morning that I will be able to fit 2 more along the front wall of my HT.

Great bang for the buck. Agreed!!! I had seriously considered that approach, and if I had more closet space, would have used my closets for the IB. Cement walls, cement floor, and overhead space restrictions damped the whole idea. I spent a lot of time with Artie before my decision on the eD. Got pics? I've been wondering if Bigred was ever gonna ask, so I'm doing it for him. As we say on another forum,"if there aint no pics....it don't exist!! ;D

And yes, everything is in my bedroom. I'm stuck in this room and bed because I have ALS. But it's a pretty cool room.

SInce alot of the work is going to be done outside, it won't happen until late March/April. Right now I am selling off and aquiring all my new gear. Ill be posting a pic of the boxes and gear soon if that helps. lol! PS. A closet with concrete walls and floor? Um sounds like the PERFECT box for a custom sub setup to me...........

Here's my modest sub... In X-Ray view ...and if you thought an XPA-2 is heavy, try draggin' one of these up to the second floor.

Are the drivers going to be arranged in an array or manifold style? I've seen it done both ways. Yeah dude, give up some pics.
