Sorry - I think you have me confused with someone else. I wasn't at this show, and I don't know what you're talking about. Mr Ben, the country music fan? Hmmmmm . . . . . Nothing quite like being flamed by random people on the intraweb lawl. Thanks for the pics and comments, glad to see Emotiva in Stereophile; just adds to the validity of their product offerings. Now I just need to find cash to buy those XPA-1's. ;D

Exactly, why flame us members when there was plenty of equipment at the show worthy of flaming. ;D

The truth lives on at Audioholics ;D forums.audioholics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=697832&postcount=34Make sure you catch the podcast, too. The owner of the company called Dan Laufman and pitched a fit about my comments. Some people hate just to hear criticism. I can't blame Emotiva for deleting the comments in that one post (missed the quotes, though).

Did you get a chance to listen to the Axis Voicebox speakers in the room that had the kids passing out cookies and raffle tickets? Curious what you thought. The Madisound room had some amazing speakers for very good prices as kits. Prices a lot less than the the "shellac" I guess on other speakers. I don't get this libel stuff, The only way to prove it I guess is if we all went over and knocked on his speakers. You put a product on the market, you put a price on it, guess what? the consumer makes an opinion, an informed consumer investigates then makes an opinion. Do we all remember the story of the Emperor with no clothes?, we were supposed to salute the kid if I remember right, not the king. I didn't rap on any speakers so no vote on this one, but am I allowed to say anything about anything else there I saw and heard there? I'd P.off a lot of people, because guess what I discovered? You do not have to spend a years salary to get great music reproduction.

Those kids were hilarious ;D They definitely earned a raise in their allowance that week! The room and equipment wasn't bad either.
Hey no big deal about the manufacturer. When you deal with the real high end of audio equipment it becomes more of a cult following than a hobby. The companies don't take kindly to any negativity in reviews. This is one of the main reasons I never believe reviews I see in magazines. It's all about the advertising dollars. Truth and actual test data mean nothing. It's all subjective.
Why do you think they come up with such strange adjectives when describing how something sounds? Words like "chocolatey, sensual, mind opening, etc."

...Why do you think they come up with such strange adjectives when describing how something sounds? Words like "chocolatey, sensual, mind opening, etc." Just as they do with describing wine really... there's no substitute for tasting it yourself. And so it is with audio.. experience it yourself and decide. I agree with you about it being circled around advertising dollars. My UMC-1 opens robustly, morphing into a sonic cacophany with a lasting sonance and a memorable finish. ;D
