Hello to everyone in the forum.Just wanted to share my thoughts on the 6.2 speakers.First off, i'm sure 90 % of the people on this forum have better systems than me.I started off with the axiom 22 's,which i liked, but not for every type of music.Had them hooked up to a cheap 100 watt amp .My sub is still the bottom of the line Energy SW8 .Purchased the UPA 2 to give myself a little more power.I'm in a very small 11 by 11 room. The UPA 2 hooked up with the 6.2's have me jumping up and down with joy.Anyone hoping to do better in the $600.00 range, well good luck.I'm sure the MMGS and the Bowers and Wilkins sound great, but for my room the Maggies just won't work. Can anyone chime in and tell me their thoughts on running 2 UPA 1'S with the 6.2's. Will i here a big difference in the sound quality?I know that i need a better sub as well.It just can't be very big for that room size.Just looking for a sub that is quick and puncy. Thanks for your time, and if anyone could give me any advice on the UPA 1'S and a decent sub in the $500.00 range, please let me know. Thanks again

You're way up there! Those are a couple of great products. You have a better system than 90% of the audio population.

I can tell you that the UPA-1s made a noticeable difference in soundstage compared to the UPA-2 in my set-up. That said, I'm hoping to get a five channel amps soon, so I can get my UPA-2 mated up with my ERM-1s again. That combo is awesome.

ckeyser, I can just imagine your astonishment when you first hooked up the UPA-2 and the ERM 6.2. The first Emo product that I purchased were the ERM-1s (small versions of the 6.2 with 5.25 woofers). I hooked them up to my Yamaha RX-V793 receiver and when they began to play, I was completely dumbfounded! Even my wife and daughter, who don't know Bose from McIntosh, stopped what they were doing and came to listen to these little gems. Interestingly, I wrote a review of them and compared them to the M22 (in speaker review section).
Enjoy your system!

I agree with Sensei Sansei Monkumonku. Those 6.2's are highly regarded by many at this forum. Don't knock that Energy 8" sub. I had one of the original Energy 8" subs years ago with my Energy Take 5 system. It was considered an excellent sub especially for music. There have been a number of versions of this sub since then. They usually are quite good for having a tight sound for music. Try to have the 6.2's out from the wall a foot or two if possible. If close to a wall then try the boundary switch for the cleanest sound. I would think the UPA-1's might possibly give you a very slight improvement. Be sure you have that Energy sub hooked up correctly to blend with the 6.2's. If you still want improvement you might look to the Martin Logan Dynamo. It has a reputation for being very musical. www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=MLDYNAMO

I had to modify my rack to change out 7" legs to 9" legs. In order to do that, you have to turn it upside down and start from the bottom. In order to do that, of course I had to take everything out of the rack. That meant the XPA-2 (which thankfully was on the bottom shelf). Man, that thing is HEAVY!!! Then I had to take out the XPA-3 that was on the shelf above it. Going from 75 lbs to 59 lbs seemed like a piece of cake, haha.. but then after replacing the legs, I had to put these things back on the shelf again. Needless to say, I had a backache all weekend and it is still with me. But it was worth it, I guess. ;D

Man, Monku, you must like pain. I'd have made do with 7" legs. My IPS-1, which weighs 81 lbs, is still in the same spot on the carpet in front of my equipment stand as on the day I unpacked it and placed it there. ;D I told myself that I need to rearrange the components anyway and I'll move it at that time. Still have not got around to doing that. Just thinking of moving that monster makes me shudder.

I have the same brand of rack and instead of doing all that work to place a center channel shelf in the array I am using a 6.2 and not a 6.3 for my center channel

The thing is, the item I wanted to put in the shelf was 6.625" high and the shelf space was 7" high. It is an Onkyo product so if I had tried to squeeze it into that space, both it and the eggs I wanted to fry on top of it would not have fit.

Thanks, chuckienut - wideawake -monkumonku and Broncsrule21.Your info helps me quite a bit.Chuckienut - I'm crossing the sub at 80 at the preamp.Have the speakers 1 foot from the wall, with wall treatments behind them.I'm still using the boundry switch.Just seems to sound better to me.Tweeters on the outside about 8 feet apart.Wideawake - Astonishment is not the word.I had no words. All i could do was smile. When i first received the speakers, they were hooked up and put on the carpet floor. Had some speaker stands on the way.I put on the new OZRIC TENTACLES CD - YUM YUM TREE.Even from the floor, these 6.2's were blowing me away.Every day, it just seems to sound better. But now i'm hooked like a bad drug.I just want more and better.Stay cool my musical brothers. We will talk again on the forum.

I don't know if the OP is still checking this thread, but I figured I'd put in my $.02.
I'm running ERM-1s (LCR) and ERDs (surround) with a LPA amp (older brother of the UPA-7/5)in a 11x10 room with my 61" DLP, the sound is amazing. I've been contemplating upgrading to 6.2s and UPA1s (when I finish my Dedicated HT 11x18), but I'm fine with the current setup, and I'll see how it sounds in the new room.
Regarding your sub question, you might look at either the Ultra 10 or 12 that Emotiva sells. I know the 12s are in, and the 10s are due soon. I really don't know much about the different subs in the market, but eD, SVS, and HSU are all very well regarded. Good Luck.
