I must admit I'm out of the loop here so here are my questions;
1. Will there be a replacement for the DMC-1 w/in the next 6 months?
2. Would I be sacrificing options/ability etc with the UMC-1?
3. I still like Sacd & Dvd Audio, does the UMC-1 have the 8 channel ability like the DMC-1???
Real answers please.

Tony,
I'm facing the same decision. Given all the current problems with the UMC-1 I'm going to wait and see if all the firmware bugs get sorted out properly. At that point I'll reevaluate the situation, but right now I'm leaning towards waiting for the XMC-1. Also leaning that way because of the discount for original DMC-1 owners.
I don't have any real issues with the DMC other than the fact that it doesn't have HDMI and there is no subwoofer distance setting (which does cause some issues in my case). Given this I can afford to wait.

I don't have any issues either but for no HDMI and the sub test tone is nearly impossible to calibrate...
I would like HDMI and auto calibration for all channels including the sub...
