I did a search and all I could find was that the latest firmware changed from all channels to 2 channel stereo. Can someone tell me why this was done. I would love to have the option of 2 or all as I do with my Yamaha. Thanks

When you say latest, which firmware do you mean? I thought that change happened on the first firmware update and I thought another one was since released?
To guys who have the UMC-1 in their hands already: Have you received the 2nd firmware update and did it put 7 channel music back on the UMC-1?

The second firmware update is not yet released. The product page will have it when it's ready: emotiva.com/umc1.shtm

I am wondering if the new firmware will include 7 channel.

I have feeling we might see an "All Stereo" mode in the upcoming update. I'm hoping anyway.

^^Same here. No multi-ch post-processing (save for PLIIx) on PCM encoded blu-rays is a slight setback. The workaround, of course, is multi-ch analog out from a blu-ray player, but then it becomes a hassle switching the audio source back & forth for the respective input.

I have my fingers crossed! The kids are in the theater room dancing right now to Multi-Channel stereo. (My daughter dances WAY to well. YIKES!)
