I would love to find a remote that has codes installed for the UMC-1 and possibly does the RF for a DTV HD DVR. I am looking at a Logitec Harmony One and the AR remote that Best Buy sells. It seems the AR does the RF with no other parts needed but cant find a straight answer for the Harmony One.
Could anyone give me any insight as I am updating my new UMC-1 now and will be hooking it up tomorrow along with my new UPA-7.
Another option that would be best is if someone had a DTV code to program their new lighted remote. All I care about is volume control for this remote, I can do the rest from the supplied remote.
Thanks David

Hi David, I think the Harmony One is the One.

I found a review on the AR and it wasn't very good and all I find on the Harmony is pretty positive.

Well, I could be biased but I love the URC remotes. I have a URC MX-900 and I love it. Never had a macro not work. It's bulletproof! Anyhow, I did see one for sale on AVS and thought I'd pass that along. Good price IMHO.. and if you decide to get it, I can share my remote file for the UMC (which 3 users have found works flawlessly). www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/vbclassified.php?do=ad&id=13129

The One won't do RF, you need to "upgrade" to the 900 for RF. I found the RF on the 900 to be lackluster, couldn't even go through 2 walls. Got maybe 50' unobstructed. That will set you back at least $300 for the 900. I would go for the URC. For less than $400 at most dealers you can get the MX-810 and MRF-260 combo that will work flawlessly through many walls out to about 100'. The 810 works perfectly with the UMC-1, you will have to learn (or add the hex codes) the commands though.

I just bought to Harmony 900 and I am thrilled with the design. Very logical setup and easy to fine tune. Prior to the Harmony, I bought the URC MX-880 off ebay. Be extremely careful that you buy a consumer and not a professional model from URC. They will not give the software to consumers only dealers. They were extremely rude when I called. I was able to finally return the mx-880 to the ebay seller after some hassle. Anyway, I am very please with the 900. The main difference between the one and 900 is the 900 has rf capabilities. I bought mine at Frys in Dallas for $275 plus it included a $25 rebate.. They have the one for $169...

Viking, I purchased my MX-800 from Newegg and have had no issues getting the software from URC. You just need to purchase one from an authorized dealer to get the software. You don't need to be a dealer yourself.
I agree with hemster, URC remotes are bulletproof. Very easy to program, macros work every time, great range, and take a beating. My 2 year old throws it across the room onto a ceramic floor every other day and it just keeps on ticking!

Well it is that One, but they call it simply the 900. So it is still the One, but they just added 899 more ones to it. Oh well, sorry, another useless post from my part.

Well, I needed a remote quickly, so after a trip to BB I got a One remote. It was on sale for $199. I got it up and running but have found one issue. No matter what I do I cant get the Menu button to work for my DTV DVR. I will put in a call later to try and rectify the issue but so far so good.

No matter what I do I cant get the Menu button to work for my DTV DVR. I will put in a call later to try and rectify the issue but so far so good. Congratulations, you got One of the very best remote on the entire planet. You paid a good price for a good remote (even if it used to be on sale for only $99 once!). Anywoo, about your issue, just call Logitech Harmony customer service (toll free # included in your instruction booklet that comes with the One), and explain to the rep exactly what you want your One to do for you, and they will oblige, guaranteed. As you are well aware, this remote is fully programmable from your computer and has more features that you can't even imagine. It has delays for your 'Activities' in any order you wish for. Their customer dept will guide you through ANYTHING that you could have an issue with, and will find the exact right SOLUTION for. * If your original remote for your DTV DVR has a Menu button that works fine, you can teach your One to learn it, and apply it to that exact Menu button on the One. If you are new to this type of remote, take your time to learn all the magic stuff that it can do, you'll get more satisfied as time goes by, guaranteed. Cheers, Bob ** TIP: For your 'Activities', you'll find sometimes that the order in which your components are turn ON, will make all the difference between success and failure. And you can choose yourself that order for each of your 'Activities', plus very precise delay between each of your components too. It is simply FULLY programmable to be totally full-proof and problem-free.
