I need some advice guys. I have a chance to get a good deal on the Anthem. This is my situation.
I have no intention of using HDMI for audio as I have an Oppo SE and pass video via HDMI so my epson 9500 UB can do any processing. Audio is the most important thing to me, not that my PJ leaves me wanting.
For any of you who have heard these, please let me know what you think.

I'm going to say, in my opinion, good choice. I have never been impressed by any piece of Anthem gear. Obviously the company is still in business, so someone likes them, but I generally don't. I would take Rotel, NAD, Denon, Onkyo and Realistic (old Radio Shack brand) over Anthem. Ok, I was kidding, I'd probably take the Anthem over Onkyo.

If it helps reassure you about your choice, I just sold my Anthem AVM-20 and I'm planning on purchasing an UMC-1. The reason I'm moving to the UMC-1 is because all of my sources use HDMI and I was tired of running HDMI to my tv and separate audio cables to my Anthem. Granted the Anthem has balanced outs and multiple sub outs, and it sounds fantastic. But I'm looking to simplify and update my system, hopefully the UMC-1 doesn't disappoint with the sound quality.

FWIW, the XMC-1 will have balanced outputs and is more comparable to the Anthem AVM-20. The UMC-1 OTOH does have 2 sub outputs.
