Does anyone use the UMC-1 as their main preamp (and not just for movies). In particular, does the UMC-1 have a record player input? What does vinyl sound like on the UMC-1?
Thanks, Stan

Which if you're into vinyl I'm sure you would want anyway. The sound with music is fantastic so I see no reason vinyl would not be also.

You'll need the USP-1. Even for the combo price of about $1,100, these can't be beat by any other close to this price range. Of course, I'm missing the UM... part of my combo. But not much longer. Just another month I think/hope/pray.

If you hook the TT up to the UMC-1 with an external preamp, I believe it will still digitize the input. I could be wrong, but didn't read anything about a pure analog path in the UMC-1. To me that would be the reason to go for the USP-1. Not that the UMC-1 wouldn't sound good, but kinda defeats the point of vinyl if you convert the signal to digital in the preamp.

You will not get a pure analog path with the UMC-1.

Can you not use the Left and Right from the 7.1 inputs make it a pure path?
