Ask yourself this: You think Pioneer will "retrofit" any of their products to keep up with the new fluff trends that probably wont become mainstream for another 2-3 years? Are these posts really serious? Just because a company talks about basic specs like jitter and phase alignment, that must make the product audiophile grade? Huh? But the Pio's will work, the UMC doesn't. Oh and another thing, I bet their beta testers got paid to be monkeys. Did you? Huh? Um you should check out some of the bug threads on Pio AVR's........and um my UMC-1 actually works just fine minus a few small known bugs that are being corrected within the next week. You show me a Pioneer product for double the price that comes close to the UMC-1 for REAL features(not useless post processing DSP functions)and I'll show you a rabbit with a pancake on its head.

Just let it go Ntrain. Some people are clearly looking to start crap here and use the new "play nice" rules to hide behind. If you'd like we can go argue some more about plasma displays in the HT section. ;D

Hi Guy's, I'm not sure what butcher's agenda is, but who cares? He's entitled to his opinion. He assumes the UMC-1 doesn't work and we all know this is not true. If he loves Pioneer, good for him. They make some very nice gear, especially their car audio.
The question is, how does Emotiva compete in a world of Pioneers, Onkyo's, Denon's, etc? Very well thank you.
What they consider their strength is what I consider their weakness. If you want endless product change to add mostly unnecessary "features", you know where to go. We are definitely not your brand. There is a ton of gear already being made to please your button pushing, acronym loving fantasies. It is not bad, it's just not us.
We are not going down that path. We are making gear that serves a different purpose; we want to transfer what the engineer and the artist created in a wholly intact manner. We want to design and build equipment that that will transfer and convey the music and cinema experience to you in the pure, honest, and uncompromised form. We are also trying to avoid unnecessary clutter and confusion. We have tried to make our products simple and elegant AND easy to use. We also want to build products that are not necessarily obsolete in 6 months. All of our processors can be easily updated with changing technology.
We will not please everyone, that's OK. Enough people get what we are doing and this will serve us well. Take a listen to our gear and then do the to the same with the competition. Take off the top covers and look around. See what they do in terms of design, construction and materials. If you think you are better served by them, so be it.
We have invested a tremendous amount of time and energy learning this end of the business. The UMC-1 is the first in a series. We are on a roll now, and you may be surprised by what our little, tiny, highly focused company comes up with.
Happy listening! Big Dan
