Gordon - I have some amazing land to sell you, I promise to give you a great deal... Sure, the mids might be a bit "recessed," but at LOW tide there is definitely something to build on. Honestly, I don't knock cable believers. Cables are like audio jewelry. Despite my urge to get on my high horse and remind people how many hungry orphans one of those Odin cables could feed (the cash equivalent, not the cable itself, which isn't very nourishing), I have to remember that my "good value" $300 mechanical wristwatch is 100 times more expensive than a quartz watch that keeps just as accurate time. I don't want to be the one to throw the first stone in this kind of debate, so I wish everyone well with their great-sounding cables!

rdaneel, I swear I read you wouldn't throw the first stone? Perhaps it is just a pebble in your opinion and your comment about land is not offensive?
The poor attempt of trying to lay on a guilt trip doesn't wash with me either.
I'm done with this topic here.

Sounds like a really nice system. Every time I have heard various ML speakers I have really liked them.

Those Vandy's of yours are no slouch either! I just recently gave my son my pair of 2CE's. I loved those speakers and almost did not want to give them up for the Spires. They are probably due for a trip back to Vandersteen for a freshing up of the speakers and crossover pots. Lots of music was made with those speaks and hopefully my son doesn't drown them in beer!!

unless it is 3-phase I wouldn't bother about it..
you shouldn't need more than a 5 amp cable, that has a max loading 20-25 amps, anything over this would be drastic overkill
not to mention the wife in the back with a meat cleaver in hand while you try to explain the $26k cc debt for audio or power cables..

- lmao - It seems for $26k they could have used Brazilian Rosewood or something. Oh yea - That's next months $5k upgrade.

As a manufacturer of FDA approved, medical grade cables, I guess I am in the wrong business. Even medical grade cables don't even come close to costing this much. At that price, that is one serious markup even including the so called R&D costs involved. I have done double blind tests of top-of-line Nordost cables and even some inexpensive cables from other manufacturers have beat them out with me and my audiophile friends. whats the deal with medical cables? whats special & why? i always wondered why medcal cable comps always come up when talking hifi gear. From what I understand .... The fit on plugs must be tight and secure- don't want them falling out. durable insulation where applicable - don't want the risk of exposed wires for obvious reasons. Well fitted and tighter specs for dimensions - don't want any risk of arcing or sparks where there may be flammable gasses

The next time I have electro-shock therapy, I am going to insist on these cables. I am confident that my fidelity will be restored.

My only recommendation is to audition the power cables with your own equipment. Hi-End audio stores is not your best choice unless your own home has been completly re-wired including its own power panel, in wall wiring, outets, etc. I can hear a difference between the free black power cords and more expensive after maket PC's. You may not hear a difference with cheaper amps but when you power up a Mac, Krell, etc. It helps, you just dont use a stock PC on a $10,000 amp, Same with interconnects and speaker wire. Its up to the individual to determine how much to spend and when the benefits outway the costs. Been there, done that.. I power my MC501's with aftermarket PC. I'll admit maybe a 10% change. Was it worth it ??

I also had a decent change when installing new PC's on my 501's. However, when trying them on the subs, I could detect no difference, saved some money by retaining the original PC's.

gordon, did you try the silver eclipse from WW ? I'll admit that the biggest single change I ever heard. My friends could not believe it was just my I.C. I was changing, they swore it was my speaker wire. They were a bit bright but wow, for those who dont believe you can hear a difference, try these.

Indeed I have! I have 6 Silver Eclipse PC's on my rig. One on each 501, one on the pre, DAC, transport and tuner. The front end is plugged into a Richard Gray Pole Pig and the amps into a S600. The Pole Pig is plugged into the S600 which is plugged into a dedicated 20 amp circuit.
