Whachoo talkin' bout? It would be a real drag if I didn't have mine. There are plenty of us that don't feel the same. Just as there are those of us that are glad we have ours! Of course everyone has their own opinions but the nice thing is that we have a choice.

RayOVac,
May I ask what you replaced it with? I also was on the original pre-order list and sent mine back after a month. Now trying to decide what to replace it with (I had unfortunately already sold my Marantz 8001...took it the shorts on this one).

"There are plenty of us that don't feel the same.
I for one am very happy I sold mine and found a different solution. Will I try again when they get the bugs worked out? Maybe... only time and more testing will tell. Might just wait for the next generation at this point. "
Keep waiting; you gave up on it. You should not be commenting on it anyway. I guess you will be in line for the best next thing. What a shame. hhhmmmmmmm. I guess if I am in your shoes I will call myself two faced.

RayOVac, May I ask what you replaced it with? I also was on the original pre-order list and sent mine back after a month. Now trying to decide what to replace it with (I had unfortunately already sold my Marantz 8001...took it the shorts on this one). Yes... my signature is correct. But surely not a fair comparison from a price standpoint. But when you consider I sold my MPS-1 and got a unbelievable deal on the 5007 (brand new)... I did not feel like I could pass it up. I feel I come across a bunch lately as an EmoHater. But I am far from it... I just got disappointed with the lack of feedback from Emo and for my personal situation, the time between firmware releases was/is just toooo long (so very reminiscent of the LMC-1 release). So after a bunch of research on the newer Onkyos.. I tried one. I have been very, very happy with the 5007, its amp section and the Reon video processor. And it does what I wanted the UMC-1 to do... "It just works". No fiddling or feeling like I am a beta tester. Most importantly it works for my wife. I still have my 40% discount since I purchased the DMC-1 and did not use it for the UMC-1.... so I have high hopes that Emo will get this mess ironed out and rebound with a great product. I just hope it is not too dated from a feature standpoint before they get things settled down with it. Sure you always have to argue "give me a another choice for $700" but I love having an Ethernet port for Internet Radio, Sirius, Pandora, firmware updates etc. Being a Mac user it's nice that it is also USB stick up-dateable (if you did not have the Ethernet connected). My biggest concern was running all these 4 ohm Emo speakers I have (8.3, 6.3, ERDs)... surprisingly... the 5007 is VERY capable and has no problems up to ear bleeding levels. And with my admittedly less then audiophile ears, I find the sound as good as what I had with my UMC-1/MPS-1 combo.

Agreed... just sharing the other side of the coin as the OP is requesting feedback from folks that have/had experiences with the UMC-1.

I would go ahead and purchase one with the set up you described.
We are very happy with our purchase of the UMC-1.
My wife watches it about 90% of the time. Last night she watched Lost and enjoyed the 5.1 sound.
She mostly watches Roku (Netflix), with some blue Ray movies on the PS3. XM Sat Radio for listening.
I have an Oppo 83 player and an X-box as well that I still haven't gotton around to checking out.
Working a lot of overtime this Quarter. Not likely to slow down until I switch jobs sometime next Month.
I used the Emotiva Q setup just as a quick starting point, made a few adjustments and are quite happy.
There are loads of adjustments you can make and play around with.
Good Luck with your purchase of a UMC-1. With a 30-day trial period and Excellent customer service your in a win win situation.

I don't want to sort through all the posts on the UMC-1 and try and figure out whether this piece is ready for prime time. Bottom line is this for me: Can I order it and expect it to work in a very simple HT? I watch Blu-Rays and have an X-Box for some gaming. No cable or satellite involved. I'm not interested in updating anything every two weeks. Is this the piece for me or not? Gordon Hi Gordon, Me think not. Gab

I can't wait to get mine. As it is now. Send me one please Emotiva. I'm not even the slightest bit worried about Emotiva comming through on there UMC-1. Looking at their past products have been excellent. They have a fantastic track record. When they get it all sorted, I reckon they should up the price to $999. Were it should be for a product like this. I think they might even sell more.
